The axe fell for the first time on The X Factor tonight, with Chris Doe being eliminated after the public vote.
It was a close one, with Luke and Joel and Chris splitting the judges’ votes, leaving it to the viewers at home to make the final verdict. I was in two minds about the verdict. I didn’t mind what Chris did last night, and certainly thought he outsang Luke and Joel on the night. However when it came to the crunch tonight I think Luke and Joel outperformed Chris tonight. I don’t predict they’ll be with us too long, but they certainly earned their place after their performance of “Fix You.”
I must say, I really like that when singing for their lives the contestants can choose to sing something other than the song that landed them in the bottom two. If Australian Idol ever comes back to our screens, let’s hope they adopt this format!
CHRIS DOE = The judges – who are in opposition to each other in the comp, are not going to vote the strongest link through.
EG: They have said on many occasions how marketable to the audience Chris Doe would be.
I also really like ‘the boys’ Luke & Joel : BUT on this day CHRIS is more marketable!
PS I have always loved the way the NEWCASTLE community work as a whole – in this case – the NEWCASTLE audience stuck by their boys 🙂
WHAT DOES EVERYBODY THINK ?????
I might call conspiracy if the judges hadn’t been split on the decision, thus handing their power to the audience at home. It does raise the interesting point though of what may happen later in the season, particularly if there are any of those surprises that inevitably happen when people feel their favourites are safe.
I’ve got to agree with you though – I loved the Newcastle chant. Wherever there is Novacastrians it seems that chant follows – as a Newcastle girl myself it definitely fills me with pride, no matter where I’m living at the moment!
