Skipping Girl Vinegar Tours “Chase the Sun”

Skipping Girl Vinegar are celebrating the release of their summery new single “Chase the Sun” with an Aussie tour this October and November.

“Chase the Sun” is the second single from Keep Calm, Carry the Monkey, an irresistibly hooky song about winding the car windows down, cranking up the stereo, and leaving the big smoke behind.

“Chase the Sun” is officially released on October 14, the same day that Skipping Girl Vinegar’s tour kicks off in Melbourne.

  1. I went and saw these guys at NSC on 14 Oct. They were woeful. That could be put down to an off-night but unbelievably they were also arrogant on stage. They wanted to tell us all about their “critical acclaim” and their artistic merit but their instrumental work (the kind of important part of live music) is average at best. The violinist and keyboard player provided the energy their faces showed. Nothing. Standing their pouting and trying to look cool might cut it if you’ve already made it but Skipping Girl Vinegar fall a long way short. My friends and I made it two thirds through before we had to retire to the front bar. Then a stream of people followed us out. It’s a pity because Sift the Noise was a well produced album, but the cockiness combined with an ability to actually play live music means they fail poorly.

  2. How disappointing to hear this Chris. It makes you wonder how much work is going on in the studio if the songs can come across on the album, but not on the stage. And drawing attention to your “critical acclaim” is more than a little wanky!

  3. I’m not sure what you are talking about Chris. I went to that gig and it was really beautiful. You sound like a fool to anyone who has ever seen this humble band play before. They certainly did not brag about having “critical acclaim”. All that was mentioned was that their new album had been selected in the Age EG awards.
I was there till the end of the gig and the room remained full except for small handful of over opinionated twits near the bar that were more interested in talking about themselves than listening. I’m guessing you were one of them! Once they / you left the rest of the room continued to be taken away listening to one of Melbourne’s best live bands.
You can have your opinion but you do sound nasty and quite full of yourself.

  4. Horses for courses I suppose Jenny. Thanks for sharing another side of the night. I suppose you can’t please all of the people all of the time!
