Naarm/Melbourne-based artist Jess Ball has really impressed me with her latest single, “Nightmare.” It’s a polished-sounding pop track with enough edge to keep things interesting. Perhaps that’s because Jess is more influenced by groundbreaking acts like Cigarettes After Sex and Massive Attack than the latest pop princesses.
“‘Nightmare’ reflects the trial and error of making life decisions, the self-doubt that comes with it, and the human tendency to desire the unattainable,” Jess explained. “It’s about feeling trapped in your ambitions while navigating the uncertainty of what lies ahead.”
Jess shared on Instagram that she’s got “plenty of music and special collaborations to come in 2025,” so make sure you follow her to hear all those new tunes when they drop.
