Apparently Australian Idol producers consider American Idol contestant Michael Johns the one that got away. But they’re determined not to let it happen again, by expanding the talent search to America and the UK this year.
According to The Sunday Telegraph, this year the Aussie reality TV show will audition expats in Los Angeles and London.
“I’ll take any numbers, no matter where they come from,” Channel 10 programming chief David Mott told the paper.
Judge Ian “Dicko” Dickson said he’s looking forward to seeing the new talent this global approach will unearth.
“It makes sense that, with a million Aussies living overseas and a large chunk of those being in LA and London, we should give this a nod,” he said. “We might find a few nuggets.”
