Congratulations to Luke and Kate!

My apologies to Guy Sebastian. I’m sure this Adelaide resident would rather forget his first single, and that electrified hair. But this song does have some beautiful words, and on this day where I’m witnessing the wedding of my friends Kate and Luke it struck a nerve. Planes probably brought them to Adelaide rather than angels, but the sentiment remains the same. May they have a lifetime of wedded bliss ahead of them!

  1. Just noticed this post Lauren. Yes you are right. Guy is not at all fond of the video for his first single, and this year has mentioned in a number of interviews that he cringes when he sees it. But it is a lovely song even if a little too sweet for some and many people panned it, Guy’s vocals made it very special. He still enjoys singing it, and speaks fondly of it.

“The success of the song still hasn’t sunk in after 7 years. I guess its success is due to it being a well-written pop ballad, coupled
with the fact that it’s perfectly suited to my voice, and also my back-story. Of course the success is also due to the fact that the song was launched off a hugely media driven platform that took months to reach its pinnacle. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that the
show was mostly responsible for the songs enormity but still, I’m glad I was the guy standing there at the end singing it. I love the song, will never tire of it, and I love that my country has enabled me to keep doing what I do.”
