Angus Stone Tours the World

Angus Stone will warm up for his Australian solo tour with shows in North America and Europe. Angus will kick off his Broken Brights World Tour in Los Angeles on Tuesday and tour through until local shows in January.

Angus is particularly excited to take his brand of “prairie dog blues” to the United States, where he’ll play some of the country’s most iconic nightspots.

“We’re playing really cool venues and it’s become much like it has here [in Australia] in the way we can play solid shows,” he explained. “Going to places like Salt Lake City and making our way up to Canada, in through all the rural parts of the States, it’s amazing how your music can trickle into all those different rivers of another continent.”

Europeans shouldn’t feel too short-changed either. While Angus won’t be in the region too long, he promises to return in 2013. Until then, Angus Stone fans around the world can look forward to the following shows.

With his debut solo album Broken Brights sitting pretty in the charts and a sold-out European tour under his belt, the time seems right for Angus Stone to take his solo music on the road.

“For the people that have listened to Julia and I play for so long, I’m looking forward to handing it over to them so that they can create their own worlds and experiences with the writings,” Angus said. “To play live as my own in front of those people, it’s going to be a different trail of gravel and gold, but none the less very exciting.”

Karise Eden Still Number One

Karise Eden’s album My Journey doesn’t seem ready to vacate the top spot on the ARIA charts any time soon. It’s again at number one, and with a tour looming I predict it’ll stay put for a while.

Her fellow Voice finalist Darren Percival showed he’s got staying power, with his album Happy Home retaining its number three possie. The other Voice finalists have slipped quietly out of the top ten, so it’s exciting to see the final two holding their ground.

While we don’t see the same glut of local talent in the albums charts this week, Angus Stone’s still doing great things with Broken Brights which sits at number four. Missy HigginsThe Ol’ Razzle Dazzle has risen to number six, while Keith Urban’s still hanging around with The Story So Far at number ten.

Justice Crew have jumped several places this week to land at number two on the singles charts with “Boom Boom.” Can they topple fun. next week?

The Voice Artists Dominate ARIA Charts

Karise Eden remains on top of the ARIA Albums Chart this week, but her fellow Voice finalists have challenged her for the number one possie.

The remaining top four contestants have all enjoyed top ten debuts for their album releases. Runner-up Darren Percival landed at number three with his disc Happy Home, Rachel Leahcar’s Shooting Star sits at number five, while Sarah De Bono shouldn’t feel embarrassed by her number seven debut with No Shame.

In a bumper week for Aussie albums, it’s not just the reality TV stars shining. Angus Stone’s solo endeavour Broken Brights took out the number two spot, while all The Voice action saw Keith Urban’s The Story So Far pushed down to number eight. Missy Higgins continues to hang on to the top ten by her fingernails. The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle is again at number ten.

In contrast the singles chart looks pretty bare. Why don’t we support homegrown songs? Thank goodness for Justice Crew, who are representing with “Boom Boom.” It sits at number seven.

Angus Stone Releases Album, New Music Video

“Wooden Chair” is the latest single lifted from Angus Stone’s solo outing Broken Brights.

It’s not going to blow anyone’s mind, but it’s a solid little piece of folk pop. The music video’s also really sweet, with footage of Angus hanging out in the country with his dog. Adorable. I can’t imagine this will be the track to attract new fans, but I’m sure anyone who adored Angus’ work with his sister Julia will be satisfied by it.

Broken Brights is in Australian stores today. It gets a UK and European release on the 16th, and hits American stores on the 17th.

Angus Stone is Lady of the Sunshine

Angus Stone is temporarily leaving his sister Julia behind to embark on an edgier solo side project. Known as Lady of the Sunshine, Angus will unleash his first solo album Smoking Gun on April 3. This truly independent endeavour will be released through Angus’ own label Desert Harvest Records, in conjunction with EMI.

But before that, you can hear the first single “White Rose Parade.” Head on over to the Lady of the Sunshine MySpace page to hear this rocking new track!
