Augie March Reprises On the Quiet Tour 10 Years Later

In 2019, Augie March stripped their music back to its roots for their acclaimed On the Quiet tour. The largely acoustic shows were the talk of the town, the kind of events that you wished you got tickets for. Now 10 years later, Augie March are giving us the chance to do it all again.

“The On The Quiet format allows us to interpret the songs in their most direct and potent form … minimal instrumentation and 4 voices … It’s like the audience is sitting in on a stripped back rehearsal in our studio space … intimate and homespun… performing this show to audiences around Australia back in 2009 was a fun and inspiring experience for us … it promises to be an equally exciting prospect in 2019,” said drummer Dave Williams.

Augie March’s brand new On the Quiet tour will visit their favourite venues in and around Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, and Brisbane. Along the way they’re revisit tunes from their esteemed 23-year back catalogue, playing crowd pleasers and rarities for keen punters. It could be another 10 years or more before you experience Augie March quite like this. Tickets are on sale now.

Augie March Offer Fans Extras with Album Pre-Order

We’ve been waiting for years, but Augie March are finally preparing to release their fifth studio album Havens Dumb. The album, which hits stores on October 3, will be released on vinyl, CD, and digital formats.

If you’re a fan you’ll want to pre-order it through the Augie March website. The vinyl comes with a free digital download, the CD comes with a signed lyric print, and if you go digital you’ll get the song “Definitive History” for free. I’m a bit old school when it comes to music, so I reckon you should go for the vinyl or CD versions and just listen to “Definitive History” here.

Augie March are celebrating the release with a string of hometown shows at Howler. The first three have already sold out, and the others are likely to follow. If you do want to see the band up close and personal, I suggest you get your tickets for the November 1 or 2 shows from Oztix soon.

Glenn Richards and Dan Luscombe Team Up for Aussie Tour

Two of Australia’s favorite frontmen are joining forces for a big double-header tour. Glenn Richards of Augie March and Dan Luscombe of The Drones will travel all around the country this August, September, and October, showcasing songs from their respective solo albums, Glimjack and Songs from Sunset Studies.

The lads have been good mates and sometime collaborators since meeting backstage at The Church’s famous Last Ever shows. They’ve toured together within their bands many times, so the chemistry is sure to be right when they leave those familiar outfits behind.

The rest of The Drones won’t be entirely forgotten though. Mike Noga, who’s riding high on the success of his own solo endeavour The Balladeer Hunter, will warm up the crowds at the following shows.

New Song Obsession: "Pennywhistle" by Augie March

Augie March are back again, and it’s been worth the wait. Their new song “Pennywhistle” is a jaunty little ditty which gets better with every listen. Glenn Richards is in fine voice here, and you’ll soon find yourself singing along. The film clip is also brilliant. If this doesn’t put a smile on your face this Humpday, nothing will!

Augie March Prepare Album Number Four

We haven’t heard a lot from Augie March lately, but that’s all about to change. The Melbourne indie outfit is heading into the studio this month to record their highly anticipated fourth album.

It’s shaping up to be a doozy too. The band will work with American producer Joe Chiccarelli, who’s famous for his work with Frank Zappa, U2, Beck, The Shins, and The White Stripes. They’re also going to record it in Neil Finn’s Roundhead studio. Think he’ll pop in and collaborate with the boys?

The album should be released later this year.

Silverchair, Spoon, and More Join BDO Bill

Next year’s Big Day Out lineup was already bursting at the seams, but with the most recent announcement, it’s bigger than ever.

Silverchair had a massive year in 2007, taking home five ARIAs and receiving worldwide acclaim for their fifth album Young Modern. They’re set to start 2008 with a bang appearing at Big Day Out gigs around Australia and New Zealand.

They’ll join other local sensations including Augie March, Regurgitator, Josh Pyke, Gyroscope, and Operator Please.

There’s also more international acts, with American rockers Spoon, DJ Carl Cox, Brit darling Kate Nash, and electronic outfit Unkle joining the bill.

They’ll play alongside Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, Hilltop Hoods, Billy Bragg, and more at these massive events.

The Gold Coast, Sydney, and Melbourne shows have already sold out, and with these recent additions the Adelaide, Auckland, and Perth shows won’t be too far behind.

Augie March Plans American Release

Melbourne rockers Augie March are set to take the United States by storm when they release their chart-topping album Moo, You Bloody Choir.

Moo, You Bloody Choir is the third album from the Aussie indie band. No overnight success story, Augie March has slowly built a loyal fan base attracted to their poetic lyrics and complex melodies.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Augie March enjoyed warm receptions when they recently entertained music industry bigwigs in Los Angeles and New York. They plan to return to American for a more extensive tour to coincide with their album release in August.

In the group’s native Australia, Moo, You Bloody Choir went platinum and spawned the APRA Song of the Year, “One Crowded Hour.”

Jive/Zomba Records will release the album in America on August 7. The release will feature a bonus track, “There is No Such Place” and videos for “One Crowded Hour” and “The Cold Acre.”
