BESTIES and Yours Truly Drop “love bombs”

BESTIES have teamed up with Yours Truly for a truly epic new single, “love bombs.” This pop-punk-rock tune is the second song lifted from BESTIES’ forthcoming three-track EP, which will drop on November 23.

The track came out of some songwriting sessions between BESTIES and viral sensation Ula late last year, but it wasn’t fully realised until BESTIES guitarist Nat Sherwood went on tour with Yours Truly. They entered the studio together and rewrote, produced, and perfected it to sound like the killer release it is today.

“I loved working with Besties,” Mikaila Delgado of Yours Truly said. “Nat has worked with my band Yours Truly on live shows and even co-wrote on our new record so it was awesome to be involved in something for his project. I really believe in them so it was great to be a small part of their big journey.”

BESTIES will perform “love bombs” and other favourites for am//pm’s Halloween shows in the coming weeks. If they’re not coming to your hometown or you missed out on tickets, don’t stress. The band’s promising more gigs in 2025.

25 October 2024 – King Street Bandroom, Mulubinba/Newcastle
26 October 2024 – The Burdekin, Eora/Sydney (SOLD OUT)
2 November 2024 – The Brightside, Meeanjin/Brisbane

BESTIES and Between You & Me Team Up For “two wrongs”

BESTIES and Between You & Me have joined forces for an epic new single, “two wrongs.” I’ve covered music from both these outfits before, so this track was always going to be up my alley. However, the collaboration is even better than I hoped for. Hit play and you’ll hear exactly what I mean.

“We wanted to write the soundtrack to a rom-com set during a global cataclysm,” admitted BESTIES’ vocalist Max Pasalic. “It’s Love Actually meets Day After Tomorrow.”

“two wrongs” is just the start of plenty of new music set to drop for BESTIES in the coming months. They’ve just wrapped up a tour supporting none other than Between You & Me, but they’re not going into hibernation just yet. They’re set to play the following shows for SXSW Sydney:

18 October 2023 – British Music Embassy @ The Soda Factory, Eora/Surry Hills (from 7 pm)
21 October 2023 – Dr Martens Presents @ The Chippo Hotel, Eora/Chippendale (from 3pm)

BESTIES Drop “racecar” Single Ahead of Big Supports

If the caffeine hasn’t quite kicked in yet, press play on BESTIES’ new single “racecar.” I guarantee this energetic pop-punk track will wake you up.

“Nat and I wanted to distill all the fear and frustration of growing up so desperate for success that it can completely distort how you interact with the people around you — as if you’re already carrying around the regret and shame of being a failure before you’ve even given up,” explained BESTIES’ vocalist Max Pasalic. “’racecar’ is all about those anxieties coalescing in a sort of ‘dinner party from hell’ scene that I’m singing about in the song (‘dinner party, gin, barcadi, tell me what’s new with you, I’m sorry but I seem to have misplaced what I gotta prove’).”

BESTIES have got some choice support slots coming up in the coming months. Make sure you arrive early enough for their sets at the following gigs:

17 August 2023 – Oxford Art Factory, Eora/Sydney (supporting Somber Hills)
30 September 2023 – Northcote Social Club, Naarm/Melbourne (supporting Between You and Me)
1 October 2023 – Crown & Anchor, Tartanya/Adelaide (supporting Between You and Me)
6 October 2023 – Black Bear Lodge, Meeanjin/Brisbane (supporting Between You and Me)
7 October 2023 – Waywards, Eora/Sydney (supporting Between You and Me)

BESTIES Release Awesome Single “have you got a light?”

Another day, another pop-punk banger. Am I sorry? Not even a little bit. Because “have u got a light?,” the latest single from Eora/Sydney act BESTIES featuring Somber Hills is just that good.

“For me, it’s easier to make light of a situation. Maybe it’s because I don’t want to take myself too seriously, for better or for worse — but I think music, and in particular this song, is a fun way to say that although I might not always fit in, I just gotta keep being me,” explained BESTIES frontman Max Pasalic.

The follow-up to BESTIES’ debut EP flare guns in the living room, “have u got a light?” shows this duo is going from strength to strength. More like this please!
