Archer Drops “Bittersweet” Single

I’m really vibing on “Bittersweet,” the latest single from up-and-coming Yugambeh Country/Gold Coast artist Archer. This indie pop is a total earworm with relatable lyrics about one-sided relationship.

“The track itself is about going out of your way to change how you are for the benefit of someone else and the realisation that the whole feeling is bittersweet when it doesn’t work out,” Archer explained. “The story is told in the terms of a relationship that goes sour after miscommunicated expectations which makes it all a bit sassy and fun – I mean not for anyone who takes it to heart though.”

The release of “Bittersweet has been a long time coming. Archer began working on it with Naarm/Melbourne rapper and producer Drest last year, but it wasn’t until they added producer Riverine to the mix that it found its feet.

“Drest and I had worked on the beat in late 2022 but with different lyrics and then kind of worked on other things and the track was left on the shelf. Then in early 2023 we decided to revisit it because the demo was really cool and had heaps of potential,” Archer added. “The chorus started with the line ‘Boy your rings just make your fingers green’ which was a really cool concept to start to workshop the rest of the lyrics around. Once we’d finished the basic idea of the beat and all the lyrics, we brought on Riverine to beef it up and add a little razzle dazzle to the drops. And so that’s how the track became the way it is.”

This is Archer’s first release since 2021, but she says she knows it’s the right time to put more music into the world. Hopefully that means she won’t leave us waiting so long for the follow-up!

Kingswood Announce Tasty New Single “Bittersweet” and Aussie Tour

Kingswood have delivered our first taste of their third studio album, Juveniles, and it’s absolutely delicious. The new single “Bittersweet” has an irresistible rock flavour that leaves you satisfied, yet just a little hungry for more.

“The thing that makes us who we are is the fact that we can do whatever we want, musically,” acknowledged lead guitarist Alex Laska. “We’re not doing it to be vindictive or to piss people off. Kasey Chambers Does Things Differently with Bittersweet

Kasey Chambers is doing things a little differently on her tenth album. Bittersweet is her first solo record in four years, and the first she’ll create without her long-time producer and manager, brother Nash Chambers, at the helm. Instead she worked with Nick DiDia, the man behind Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, and Powderfinger albums, at Studio 301 in Byron Bay.

“I wanted to have an experience making a record that I had never had before. I wanted to challenge myself and I wanted to be excited,” she explained.

If the first single “Wheelbarrow” is any indication, the gamble’s paid off. It’s so raw and ballsy. However, an album with the talent Kasey’s assembled couldn’t possibly sound bar. Her studio band features Powderfinger’s Bernard Fanning on acoustic guitar, Ashleigh Dallas on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and backing vocals, and Dan Kelly on electric and acoustic guitars and backing vocals, to name just a few.

Bittersweet will hit stores on August 29. Kasey will play the following shows to celebrate its release.

30 August 2014 – Gympie Music Muster, Gympie
2 September 2014 – Lefties Old Time Music Hall, Brisbane
3 September 2014 – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
4 September 2014 – Newtown Social Club, Sydney

After the Fall’s Bittersweet Return

The Central Coast’s After the Fall are on the comeback trail with a brand new album Bittersweet.

It’s been three long years since the band delivered [In Exile]. Since then the pop-rockers have injected some new blood in drummer Adrian and honed their songwriting skills. They recorded the bulk of their new record in the houses guitarist Mark Warner was housesitting, taking their time and enjoying the free electricity! If the title track is any indication, this album’s been worth the wait for the band’s dedicated fanbase.

Bittersweet will hit stores on November 23. After the Fall will no doubt relish the chance to play for fans again at the following launch shows.

29 November 2012 – The Wall @ The Bald Faced Stag, Sydney
1 December 2012 – The Great Northern, Newcastle
7 December 2012 – The Workers Club, Melbourne
8 December 2012 – Uni Bar, Adelaide
