A collaboration between Yugambeh Country/Gold Coast rock act Peach Fur and rapper Saint Lane doesn’t sound like a natural marriage on paper, but their new single “Bloom” is something special. This track brings all the good vibes you deserve at the end of the working week.
“Bloom is about the feeling of freedom after going separate ways in a relationship and having that new sense of self-discovery,” explained Peach Fur’s frontman Denny Hilder. “Bloom touches on the diversity of the album ‘Earth Radio’ has to offer.”
“Bloom is our first rap song. Although there’s similar elements instrumentally, vocally we’ve explored new areas we previously hadn’t. This is heard not just with the rapping but also the hooks and chorus. Earth Radio is a compilation of some of our favourite flavours of music into one body of work, we’re seeking a connection between a range of different listeners and the music.”
Earth Radio is coming really soon, signalling big things to come from Peach Fur in 2023.
Bella Deer is one of those rare artists who sounds like a seasoned pro straight out of the gate. “Bloom” is her debut single, but you wouldn’t know it by listening to it. Her vocals are powerful and confident, and the song’s lyrics are outstanding. I’m going to be humming that melody for the rest of the day too.
Bella isn’t quite a novice though. She’s shared stages with Husky Gawenda, Thando, and Emma Donovan and The Putbacks. However, this is her first time stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist. Listening to “Bloom”, I’d say it’s about time.
“This song is about struggling with self-confidence and mustering the courage to simply be yourself and accepting who you are and what you stand for,” Bella explained. “When you start to do this, you find that you’re accepted despite those fears. It also explores the frustrations with the lack of meaningful human connections in our society in a tech-obsessed world.”
Bella will play Door Gallery Café in Wathaurong/Fyansford on November 19.

Bloom channels vintage vibes in her latest single “One More Place.” This track is the ultimate breakup anthem, a melancholy rumination on the memories that hold us hostage as we try to move on.
“I’ve had a few (too many) breakups, as most of us can relate to at some point in our lives,” Bloom admitted. “There is always that one place that reminds you of your ex, or that raw phase you go through post break up where you are wondering who they are with and have a bunch of unanswered questions while coming to the realisation that it is really over.”
Most artists have a fairly bare concert calendar at the moment, but not Bloom. She’s playing covers at the following shows all around Australia and New Zealand:

When she’s not packing out auditoriums with her Amy Winehouse and Adele covers, Perth’s Bloom is working on her own music. Her latest release is “The Sweetest Love,” a romantic piano ballad that should make your heart soar.
While Bloom writes most of the original music she releases, “The Sweetest Love” was actually penned by internationally-renowned songwriters Brian Sutherland and Jody Stewart-Regner. Even though she didn’t write it, Bloom says she felt an instant connection with the track.
“As soon as I heard this song, I loved it. I love that it is a positive love song and I thought it would be nice and fresh to release something different,” she explained.
“Marriage Equality has been a big thing in our country lately so when they told me the song was actually inspired by the love between two women, the lyrics made a lot of sense to me. I believe love is love and we shouldn’t discriminate with sex or race.”
Bloom will release a new original EP later this year, but before then you can see her playing her acclaimed Adele & Amy Songbook shows all around Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.

We’re only four months in, but already 2016 is shaping up to a be a big year for RÜFÜS. Bloom topped the ARIA charts in January, kicking Adele off her perch, the singles “You Were Right” and “Like an Animal” were both in the top third of the triple j Hottest 100, and they’ve been selling out shows across Europe, the UK, and North America.
But it’s all been building to this, the start of their national Bloom tour.
“When we approach the live show I think a really exciting thing for us is to re-imagine the songs and try to bring a new dimension and new journey to our music. A big part of what we do whether it be writing a record or performing it live, is that sense of progression and that sense of tension and release,” drummer James Hunt explained. “We’ve been absorbing so much live music lately so there are a million little things we want to try.”
Some shows are sold out, but if you’re quick you should be able to get yourself to one of these gigs.
