Caiti Baker Showcases Bold New Sound With “Gimme”

Caiti Baker is all attitude in her new single “Gimme.” It’s a track with plenty of bite, cutting vocals and a unique sound blending roots samples, grinding bass, and electronics. “Gimme” gives us an exciting taste of a brand new batch of songs from this Darwin talent.

“These tracks seemed to push themselves in a new direction for us creatively—there were more elements of trap, synths and big bass that we were really excited about, but we knew they didn’t suit what we were going for on Zinc,” said Caiti. “We decided to come back to them later with fresh ears and that’s exactly what we did.”

The new songs will drop later this year, but you can get a sneak peek on Caiti’s forthcoming tour, her biggest solo one yet. Catch her at the following venues around the country.

Caiti Baker Releases Soulful Single “I Won’t Sleep”

Darwin’s Caiti Baker has released a killer new cut from her debut album Zinc. “I Won’t Sleep” is fearless and foot-stompingly good, a stripped back soul cut with an infectious groove.

The track explores Caiti’s battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and represents a physical, metaphoric, and artistic awakening.

“I Won’t Sleep is a song about finding my identity after having been asleep with CFS for so long,” said Baker. “The driving production is a musical metaphor for the energy and hype that for so long was absent in my life. In a way, it’s a celebration of having clarity and being present.”

There’s more where this came from; Zinc drops on October 6.

Caiti Baker Does It Her Way With “Heavy on My Heart”

Caiti Baker seems to be one of those artists that defies genre. The press release accompanying her debut single “Heavy on My Heart” calls her a soul/hip hop act, but there’s a strong spirit of blues and gospel running through the tune. It’s gorgeously rhythmic, with handclaps and brass flourishes driving things along. The clip, featuring old Super 8 footage of Caiti’s folks, is also really special.

With influences ranging from Big Mama Thornton to Missy Elliot, Caiti Baker is making the kind of music we don’t hear enough of it. If you want more, make sure you catch her at one of her single launch shows.
