Jordie Lane Signs with Canadian Booking Agent

Congratulations to Jordie Lane, who’s just signed a deal with Canadian booking agent Paquin Entertainment. Paquin is home to many credible Canucks including Tegan and Sara, Josh Ritter, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Buffy Sainte-Marie.

Jordie’s currently in the thick of his local Movement tour, which will serve as a warm-up for his some forthcoming Canadian shows. Dates haven’t been announced yet, but Canadian music lovers can expect to see him playing headlining shows and several major festivals during July and August.

Beat the Heat with Sun City’s Chilly Music Video

I’m hot. Really hot. The news tells me it was 46 degrees in Sydney, and it can’t be too far off on the Central Coast. My air-conditioning unit and fans are feeling pretty ineffectual at the moment.

And that may be why Sun City’s latest film clip looks extra inviting. The band’s name is pretty summery, but for the clip accompanying “High” the Perth outfit headed to Alberta, Canada. Icy, icy Alberta. All those frozen creek beds and thick snowy surfaces look like heaven right now. I’m sure the crew might have complained about the -20 degree temps, but I think they sound perfect.

I’m sure the band’s longing for them as they’ll start braving our sweltering local conditions on a national tour tonight. You can show them some love at the following venues.

18 January 2013 – The Rocket Bar, Adelaide
19 January 2013 – Slam Festival, St Kilda
20 January 2013 – Slam Festival, Scarborough
25 January 2013 – Can’t Say @ Vault 8, Melbourne
26 January 2013 Falcona Saturdays @Beach Road Hotel, Bondi (FREE)

Paul Kelly Takes A to Z Abroad

After wowing Australian audiences with his A to Z shows, Paul Kelly’s preparing to do it all over again in the United Kingdom, United States and Canada.

Paul will play tunes from A to Z to support the international releases of The A to Z Recordings and his book How to Make Gravy. One hundred of his most beloved works will be performed acoustically in alphabetical order across four nights in the UK. It seems Americans will need to do a bit of travelling if they want the complete A to Z experience as he’s only stopping in each city for two nights. Fans can buy individual tickets or multi-night bundles.

Paul Kelly is one of Australia’s best kept secrets, and most acclaimed singer-songwriters. I really hope plenty of international readers get out to these shows to discover for themselves just how brilliant he is.

30 August – 2 September 2011 – Bush Hall, London
7 – 10 September 2011 – Sugar Club, Dublin
12 & 13 September 2011 – Schuba’s, Chicago
