Susan Boyle Pulls Out of Aussie Promo Tour

Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle has postponed her planned promotional visit to Australia next month. The decision was apparently made to allow Susan to rest up before she starts recording her second album.

It’s bad news for Sony Music, who’d booked SuBo a spot at this year’s Logies and released a promotional tour edition of I Dreamed a Dream this week.

Susan’s manager Andy Stephens says she will reschedule her Australian visit for later this year.

Rufus Wainwright Cancels Aussie Tour

Rufus Wainwright has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour due to illness in the family. Unfortunately, this has also seen the cancellation of his Day on the Green concerts with Paul Kelly.

“We are all incredibly disappointed that Rufus has had to cancel his tour,” A Day on the Green promoter Michael Newton said in a statement. “Unfortunately we have no time to secure another artist of the same calibre to replace him as the co-headline act, which makes it economically unviable to continue with the show. We hope we will see Rufus at A Day on the Green next summer.”

Ticket holders can now get a full refund from their place of purchase.

But there is a silver lining for fans. Apparently they’ll get priority ticket allocated when Rufus returns later this year.

The Great Escape Is Off

Sydney’s Great Escape festival has been cancelled due to low ticket sales. But it’s not all bad news for music fans, as the planned sideshows will still go ahead.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those people that have made the festival such a success in previous years. We’d also like to whole heartedly apologise to the bands, artists, agents, managers, suppliers, sponsors, media supporters and festival goers that have been let down by our decision. The decision to cancel has not been an easy one for the team behind the event,” event organisers said in a statement on The Great Escape website.

Sydneysiders can still catch some of the awesome bands like Ladytron, Supergrass, We Are Scientists, and The New Pornographers at gigs around the city. Ticket holders can get a refund from their place of purchase.

Peats Ridge Rained Out

New South Wales’ soggy conditions have put a stop to this year’s Peats Ridge Music Festival.

“The highest December rainfall on record, coupled with six months of extremely wet weather has resulted in ground conditions that make it impossible for the festival to proceed,” says a statement on the Peats Ridge website.

“Although the team has done everything in its power to deliver the festival, at the end of the day the wellbeing of our patrons must come first. In the interests of public safety the organisers and venue owner have had to make this extremely difficult decision.”

It’s a bummer for the music fans who were due to hear De La Soul, Sarah Blasko, Katie Noonan, Eugene Hideaway Bridges, Old Man River, and more.

Ticket holders can get a full refund from their place of purchase.
