Castlecomer Gets Me Grooving With “Judy”

It might be Humpday and relatively early, but I’m feeling better about this Wednesday than most. This is my first day working in my brand new office, a magnificent bright purple space with a Prince canvas on the wall watching over me. It’s heavenly.

So the funky grooves of Castlecomer’s new single “Judy” are really hitting the spot. The track is an absolute ear-pleaser, but it’s got a darker side with its lyrics exploring a taboo relationship from the side of the weaker party.

“Judy” comes from Castlecomer’s new EP All of the Noise. The Sydney band will tour the East Coast this November to celebrate its release.

Castlecomer Help us Get Away From Everday with “Escapism”

According to the dictionary, escapism is “the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy.” What the dictionary neglects to mention is that it’s the also the name of the latest single from Castlecomer, which is being bundled with their previous release “Fire Alarm” for a double A-side available from December 19.

Apparently the track was written while lead singer Bede was working in a boarding house for men with schizophrenia. In it, he reflects on the way we all look for ways to escape the everyday we’re living in. The track has such a great energy; of this doesn’t get you going on your Tuesday morning nothing will.

Castlecomer Get Animated

Castlecomer have captivated me with the music video for their brand new single “Danny’s Dan”. The whimsical stop-animation clip was shot over ten full days, which were ten days well spent if you ask me. This stunning video should appeal to the kid in all of us.

The Sydney band has created a beautiful track in “Danny’s Den” too. It comes from the band’s EP Lone Survivor, which they’re currently touring around the country. They’ll hit Wollongong tonight before wrapping up their tour in Adelaide next week.

Tickets cost $10 on the presale or $15 on the door. Alternatively you can bundle your ticket with a signed EP for just $18. Bargain!
