Clay J Gladstone’s the “Talk of the Town” Ahead of Sienna Skies Shows

Clay J Gladstone have come to kickstart your Wednesday with their rocking new single “Talk of the Town.” This angsty track about struggling to break through in the music industry sounds best loud, so crank that volume!

“Talk Of The Town is my uppercut to the business side of the music industry,” vocalist Tim Wisbey explained. “Targeting those elitists and gatekeepers that decide whether your social media is vogue and colossal enough to give you a shot. It makes me sick thinking how tough it is for younger bands coming through, or any band really.

“It’s not just about the music – though I guess it never really has been. You basically need to be an expert in marketing, sales, relationship management, bookings, or even dance choreography to cut through the fog. Anyway, I’m not whining. I could die tomorrow and be happy that I got to write this song, pretending I’ve made it and giving the middle finger to any creature that’s tried to cut us at the knees along the way.”

“Talk of the Town” is the latest single lifted from Clay J Gladstone’s forthcoming debut album, set to drop later this year. The band have a stack of shows coming up supporting Sienna Skies all around the country, where you just might hear some of those new songs.

Crank Up the Volume on Clay J Gladstone’s “Hate Club”

The press release calls “Hate Club,” the new single from Clay J Gladstone “a blistering two-minute wrecking ball, assailing with the emotional ingredients of angst and vitality.” Honestly, I couldn’t have said it better myself. So I won’t. Instead, I’m just going to instruct you to turn this one up. Oh, and maybe grab the headphones if you share an office with others. The swears are perfect for slogging through the working week, but I’m not sure your boss would agree!

“‘Hate Club’ is about a teenage relationship being torn apart by the jealous friends group, only to have those same jealous friends slide into your DMs months later,” Clay J Gladstone explained. “It is about standing your ground in a relationship and calling out poor behaviour when you see it; being comfortable hunted by the ‘Hate Club’.”

Clay J Gladstone are making waves in the live arena after wowing crowds when they toured with Hellions, Deadlights, and Ocean Sleeper. They’ve also sold out hometown gigs at The Burdekin Hotel and The Factory Floor. You can catch Clay J Gladstone doing what they do best at the Winter Music Festival in Kedumba/Katoomba on August 27.

A Swift Farewell and Clay J Gladstone Team Up For “Stressed Out”

Sydney punk acts A Swift Farewell and Clay J Gladstone have joined forces for the collaboration of your dreams. Their new single “Stressed Out” perfectly showcases everything that makes these two local acts so special. If you’re feeling frustrated or struggling in any way today, you’re going to want to turn the volume all the way up on this one.

“The song is about not expressing emotions and often hiding and burying feelings until it gets too much.” A Swift Farewell explained. “We wanted to show our darker side with this track, as we felt our two previous singles were a fair bit more pop-influenced and mid-tempo. Funnily enough, its working title was actually ‘angry boi’.”

Creating the film clip at Marrickville’s Sydney Props Studio was a labour of love, according to A Swift Farewell frontwoman Emma Mather.

“We built the set ourselves,” she said. “It was a hustle! First, we had to build huge panels of fake grass. It represents the chaotic ‘inside’ of that same person who’s pretending they’re fine but hiding all their bad feelings. Then, at the end of the video, we tried representing ‘getting buried’ by having people throw gardening soil at us while we played. We thought this was a good idea, but it was so painful as the soil was getting into our eyes and mouths and clothes.”

A Swift Farewell will support the release of “Stressed Out” with a show at the Burdekin Hotel on March 27 supporting Heroes for Hire. If you heard the buzz when they supported FANGZ, Headstrong, or Cambridge, you’ll want to check this gig out.

Clay J Gladstone Go Hard With “People Like You”

Sydney punk rock act Clay J Gladstone have released their fantastic new single “People Like You.” Its verses creep along, lulling you into a relaxed mood before the chorus comes out swinging. This is a track that goes for the jugular with its big crunchy chords and powerhouse vocals.

“The track is about escaping an abusive relationship and going out in a blaze of glory,” explained lead singer Clay J. “Being told you’re not good enough only to realise you’ve been bullied into submission and need to cut them loose.”

The track comes with a cinematic music video filmed, directed, and edited by AWOL Productions’ Adam Williamson.

“The storyline follows the concept of the track: breaking free of an abusive relationship,” Clay J explained of the video’s concept. “There are three locations to depict the relative stages in the relationship. Firstly, the light box to depict being stuck in cage; secondly, the dark bedroom with photos on the wall acting as memories; and thirdly, the bright park to represent breaking free.”

As you might imagine listening to this track. Clay J Gladstone are earning a reputation as one of the most explosive bands on the live circuit. Catch them at the following venues to see what the hype is all about:

26 June 2021 – AM//PM Emo Night Sydney @ Burdekin Hotel, Darlinghurst
10 July 2021 – The Lansdowne, Sydney (supporting FANGZ)
