Bye Bye for Now

Last year my husband and I caught the cruising bug. We adored our first trip, a cruise to New Zealand, so much so that we took a three-nighter food and wine cruise later that year, just because we were desperate to get back on a ship. Now that my husband has accrued some more holidays, we’re off again, this time to Vanuatu and New Caledonia. As an added bonus, my parents have agreed to work on renovating our house while we’re gone. Score!

So today we’re heading off, and I’ll be gone for roughly two weeks. I’ve written some posts to go live while I’m gone so you don’t miss me too much, but I won’t be answering comments or emails while I’m gone. I’ll be far too busy enjoying being unplugged.

Be good while I’m gone!

Get Cruising with Sea ‘N Beats

After taking my first cruise last month, I’m a true convert. I love not having anything that I need to do, choosing from fancy food prepared every night of the week (without the need for washing up), and playing trivia twice most days. Maybe it’s time to start planning the next one, as Australia’s first electronic cruise, Sea ‘N Beats, has just been announced.

The boat will be jam-packed with massive electronic acts including Alison Wonderland, Peking Duk, Cyril Hahn, Hot Dub Time Machine, Jawz, Young Franco, Hayden James, Safia, The Kite String Tangle, and heaps more, who’ll play over seven floating stages. It’ll depart from Brisbane on March 5, 2016, and spend four days cruising around local waters entertaining music lovers. It’ll even make a stop on a mystery Queensland island. Sounds like a pretty awesome way to spend a holiday if you ask me.

More details, including how you can secure your tickets, are available at the Sea ‘N Beats website.

Sounds of Oz on Holiday

After many many years of working hard as a freelancer, I’m finally taking a holiday. I’ve put in far too many weekends and late nights on a variety of writing projects, this blog included. I love it, but I need a break.

So today I’m heading off to New Zealand for a two-week cruise. My parents are housesitting, which makes me feel a lot more comfortable announcing travel plans online! I’ve never cruised before, but I figure the New Zealand one’s a good opportunity to test whether I’m the cruising type considering we can get off the ship every day once we arrive. I imagine I’m going to spend a lot of time on board hanging around the piano bar drinking wine. It sounds like heaven.

I’ve scheduled some posts for the time I’m gone, but things will be a little quiet. I won’t be commenting on the things you say, and the posts won’t be as frequent. So hang tight, enjoy the blog at a more leisurely pace, and I’ll be back before we all know it.
