The Superjesus Back to Their Best With Comeback Single “Money (We’re Only In It For Love)”

If you had any concerns that line-up changes might negatively impact The Superjesus’ sound, let me put them to rest. Their latest single “Money (We’re Only In It For Love)”, their first with Murray Sheridan and Cam Blokland, is one of the best modern rock songs I’ve heard in years.

Frontwoman Sarah McLeod is itching to get back on the road later this month, commenting “We’re gonna play this song so hard on this tour, I can’t wait, I’m gonna scream my eyeballs out!”

Bassist Stuart Rudd added “Having been together in the same band for over 20 years, the DNA wasn’t hard to find and tapping into new creative veins would soon yield our first new single and now we’re looking at our first new album in 20 years.”

I expect you might get a sneaky listen to a few new album tracks when The Superjesus hit the road with Dallas Crane. These shows are long overdue, so make sure you don’t miss them.

The Corner Hotel Hosts Grand Final Eve Fundraiser for Kids with Cancer

I’ll be honest with you, I don’t “get” AFL. I was raised on rugby league, so perhaps it’s just not in my genes. So when I heard The Corner Hotel was throwing a Grand Final Holiday Eve party, I nearly deleted the press release. But then I spotted that the event has some kickarse bands and it’s raising funds for kids with cancer. That’s the sort of stuff you just can’t ignore.

The Great Rock ‘n Roll Pie Night features entertainment from Dallas Crane, Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk, The Draught Dodgers feat. Tim Rogers, The Pretty Littles, and You Am I’s Davey Lane as guest DJ. Warwick Capper will MC the event which raises funds for the Challenge Organisation, Victoria’s first organisation providing support and recreational opportunities for families living with cancer.

Get behind the Challenge Organisation and enjoy some superb music and pies at the Corner Hotel on September 28. Tickets are on sale now.

Dave Larkin Readies Solo Release

I wonder whether The Kinks’ legendary singer Ray Davies has given his Aussie support act Dave Larkin any tips about going solo. We’re used to seeing Dave fronting Dallas Crane, but these days it seems he’s quite happy going it alone.

Dave’s currently working on his first solo release, which promises to be an alt-country affair.

There’s no word yet on when we’ll get to hear it, but Undercover says Dave is road testing new material in his Ray Davies’ support slot. Sounds to me like that full-length disc won’t be too far away.
