Sunset Avenue Bring Back Summer Sounds With “Do You Feel The Same?”

The days might be getting colder, but it’s always a good time for a little surf rock from Sunset Avenue. Their sophomore single “Do You Feel The Same?” is a fitting follow-up to 2023’s “Change It Up”, a feel-good, high-energy number that brings all the positive vibes with its lyrics about falling in love and enjoying a few bevvies.

“We wrote this song as we thought it’ll relate to many people of all ages and genders as we do or have all once felt love in our lives, right?” explained the band’s lead guitarist Conor Phelan. “Sometimes good, sometimes bad and sometimes you’re unsure hoping the person feels the same about you as you do them.”

Sunset Avenue will play a big headlining show at the Caringbah Hotel in Dharawal Country/Caringbah on April 5. If you’re not down that way, don’t sweat it. I hear they’re looking forward to playing plenty of shows in the near future. Give them a follow on Instagram to learn all about those dates as soon as they drop.

PRETTY BLEAK Tackle Addiction With “do you feel the same?”

It’s a dark gloomy day in my part of the country, perfect for some new PRETTY BLEAK material. This Naarm/Melbourne emo/pop punk act delivers the right balance of happy-sad with their latest single “do you feel the same?”

“The song is about the human tendency to placate our emotions with menial pleasures, which develop into addictions or dependencies,” explained vocalist Sam Thomas. “The specific nature of the addiction is dependent on the listener’s interpretation, whether it be drugs, or laughter, or the amount of times you look in the mirror each day.”

Fresh from their debut appearance at BIGSOUND, PRETTY BLEAK will launch the single for hometown fans at The Gasometer Hotel on September 28.

Discover the Folk-Pop Talents of Woody Pitney

Woody Pitney is far from a household name, but overseas he’s kind of a big deal. With the release of his new single “Do You Feel the Same,” it might just be time for his home country to discover what all the fuss is about.

Woody was jamming in local pubs when the release of his debut EP’s title track “You Can Stay” helped him score a major synchronisation and recording deal in Germany. He hit the top of multiple European iTunes charts, featured on mainstream German TV and radio, and toured extensively throughout Europe and Asia before he decided it was time to come home and try normal life for a while.

Now working as an independent artist, “Do You Feel the Same” is a great sign of things to come. It’s got hit written all over it, which should be no surprise as it was polished by superstar producers Charlie Hugall (Ed Sheeran, Florence & The Machine) and John Castle (Vance Joy, Dean Lewis).

Woody launches “Do You Feel the Same” at the Worker’s Club in Fitzroy on July 6.
