Enjoy a Wild Ride With Donnarumma’s “Rollercoaster”

Strap yourself in for “Rollercoaster,” the latest single from Adelaide rockers Donnarumma.

Just like any good rollercoaster, this track starts small, with delicate vocals and guitar work. However, before too long it kicks in, launching the listener full throttle into its bold guitar riff and strong vocals. Once you’re in it you’ve got no choice but to just hold on and enjoy the ride.

“I based the narrative around the idea of being self-critical, almost like a person arguing with themselves in a mirror,” explained Louis Donnarumma, the man behind those amazing vocals. “At the beginning, I started with a lyric-less hook and developed the song from there over roughly a year. It took heaps of trial and error, loads of demos and fleshing out ideas with the band to get to the final product. We put heaps of ourselves into this track and it’s definitely the proudest we’ve been with our work.”

This song sounds awesome at home, but I imagine it’s going to be even better experienced live. You’ll get your chance when Donnarumma takes the single on tour in the New Year.

Donnarumma Are Back With “Alien”

I raved about Donnarumma’s music last year, so I’m thrilled to see the Adelaide band isn’t resting on its laurels. New single “Alien” is killer, with crashing drums, fuzzy guitars, and a healthy dose of angst.

The band took total control of this one to fulfil their creative vision.

“There’s a special love for this song,” confirmed Louis Donnarumma. “We recorded at our home studio, self-mixed and produced it. We did it our way, and we’re super stoked on it.”

Donnarrumma will celebrate the single’s release with a few shows next month. Here are all the places you can catch them play.

“Billy Billy” – Donnarumma

The musicians from Adelaide band Donnarumma are no shrinking violets. The music they create is bold and confident. It forces you to pay attention, with big brassy hooks and driving drumbeats. With their new EP Billy Billy, they show why they should be on your radar.

The single “Love Your Man” kicks things off in all its unapologetic glory. “Into The Moss” keeps the energy levels up. Its jazzy Latin vibe had me grooving in my seat. “The Anxious Dance” is epic in the best possible way, very left of center but delightful because of its difference. Speaking of difference, it’s rare that we hear a song as brutally honest “All Night Long.” I love its rebellious heart. With the title track “Billy Billy,” Donnarumma closes its EP with a bang. “This is the end” frontman Louis Donnarumma sings, and for the EP that’s true. But for Donnarumma, I have a feeling things are only just beginning.

Billy Billy drops on June 30. Donnarumma will tour the EP next month.

Donnarumma Wows Me With “Love Your Man”

Adelaide three-piece Donnarumma has really impressed me with its debut single “Love Your Man.” It’s a jazzy, bluesy little ditty with some of the tightest horns you’re likely to hear.

“Love Your Man is about the jealousy that warped my perception of a relationship I was once in,” the band’s frontman Louis Donnarumma explained. “ The song travels back to a time where I felt betrayed by my partner – what an innocent boy I was!  The video shows this toxic relationship where the girl goes insane, kidnaps her partner and tries to kill him – then it is revealed that he’s been cheating on her the whole time and he ends up getting what he deserves.  Sounds ridiculous I know, but we tried to be as over the top as we could be.  It’s like those moments when you’re so angry you picture the most outrageous stories in your head.  We find it amusing and love the irony; there’s this man singing how he doesn’t feel loved, but does nothing but betray her!”

“Love Your Man” comes from Donnarumma’s new EP Billy Billy, which drops on June 30. The band will mark its release with a national tour, making the following pit stops around the country.

1 July 2017 – Grace Emily Hotel, Adelaide
7 July 2017 – Whole Lotta Love, Melbourne
13 July 2017 – Rad Bar, Wollongong
