Du0 and Reo Cragun Team Up For “Overdrive”

Meeanjin/Brisbane electronic act and producer Du0 has joined forces with local hip-hop act Reo Cragun for his latest single “Overdrive.” With its sparkly synthesisers and pulsing beats, this irresistible track should make your Thursday easier to swallow. I’m getting real Daft Punk vibes, which might not be surprising as it was mixed by Nicolas Essig, who previously worked with the iconic French duo.

“I’ve been a big fan of Reo for a long time and to get the opportunity to work with him on ‘Overdrive’ is a dream come true,” Du0 explained. “I wanted to touch on some of my previous more funky tracks, so I focused on funking up the bass guitar to tie in with some more fluffy synth sounds in the chorus. I also got my previous collaborator Fingazz (who has worked with Snoop Dogg, Bruno Mars and Machine Gun Kelly) on there to lay down some vocoder and talkbox. Lyrically, it is about the freedom of young love and going all in on someone.”

“Overdrive” comes from Du0’s EP FLOAT, which drops on April 19.

Du0 Drops Hot New Single, “Summer Nights”

The season might be almost over, but DuO doesn’t think it’s too late for one more summer banger. The Meeanjin/Brisbane electronic artist has just dropped his new single “Summer Nights” and it’s an absolute scorcher. Just when you think it can’t get any better, that sax line drops. Exquisite!

“Written in a hot Australian summer, ‘Summer Nights’ started on a back deck with a guitar and from there was produced with chill and uplifting synth and sax parts,” DuO recalled. “Lyrically it’s a nostalgic take on love when summer’s balmy nights seemed endless and you could live in the moment while the future seemed so far away.”

There’s more new music where this came from. Expect to hear an announcement about Du0’s next EP in the coming month.

Du0 Collaborates for Double A-Side Single

Brisbane-based producer du0 has teamed up with exciting new vocalists Emily Coulston and Cloe Terare for a double A-side release, “Come Home/Better Place.” Both songs are so strong, with stellar vocal performances, dynamic instrumentation, and real heart. They also show you what magic can come out of songwriting sessions, as du0 explained.

“All three of us (along with six other musicians) got invited to attend QMusic’s exclusive Songwriting Retreat, AMPLIFY, that took place over three days at Heliport Studios in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland,” he explained. “We were rotated in groups of threes and had to come up with a song from scratch, then produce and record it in the four hours we were together. We did this five times over the three days and we were given a mentor in each session who helped us get this massive task done. These two tracks were born out of those sessions.”

Du0 will release some remixes of these tracks in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to hear how the songs evolve with his production expertise.
