Empire Park Makes Strong Statement With “Weight”

If you have a sore head after a big Saturday night, I apologise. But if you want something big and bold to get through your Sunday, Melbourne-based alternative rock act Empire Park has you covered with “Weight.”

This is such a strong track, delivered with the confidence of stadium rock veterans. It’s already received praise from members of Gang of Youths and I Know Leopard. I’ll add my name to the list of supporters.

“The song is about the realisation that something you cared deeply about has to end, and you can’t pretend otherwise any longer,” explained Empire Park’s frontman and founder Harrison Manton. “It’s about change and loss, for better or worse, in my relationships and our lives in general since we’ve moved away from home.”

Hopefully we hear plenty more from these guys soon. I’m a fan.

Empire Park Make Us All Feel OK

Friday should be all about feel-good music in my opinion. The weekend’s so close that you can taste it, and the days ahead are full of possibilities. It’s the perfect time to listen to “We’re OK,” the rocking new single from Hobart’s Empire Park.

There’s a dark undercurrent to the lyrics here but the sound is infectiously uplifting. It feels like summer with its surf-rock inspired lead line and singalong chorus.

Seriously, I’ve listened to this song about four times in a row. Time for number five I think. Loving it!
