Facebook Fans Chart Bliss n Eso’s New Tour

Australia’s biggest hip hop act Bliss n Eso will head out for one big tour in May and June to promote their number one selling album Running on Air.

This tour takes a pretty unusual path, but it’s the result of a Facebook competition where fans helped to decide the route. That accounts for the bizarre venues like the Old Mt. Gambier Gaol and City Hall in Hobart!

Some of those venues might be small, but Bliss n Eso are still promising “one of the largest scale tours from an Australian act in years.” That’s not bad considering all tickets will give you change from a fifty!

Horrorshow and Big B will join the Sydney band at the following shows. Tickets will be available from the venues from March 7.

6 May 2011 – University of New England (The Stro), Armidale (18+)
13 May 2011 – The Mangrove Hotel, Broome (18+)
21 May 2011 – Challenge Stadium, Perth (All Ages)
28 May 2011 – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney (All Ages)
3 June 2011 – Festival Hall, Melbourne (All Ages)

Live at the Chapel Gears Up for Big Eighth Season with Russian Standard Vodka

Live at the Chapel has teamed up with Russian Standard Vodka to present this year’s live concert series.

This year’s program will kick off with an exclusive performance at the Uniting Church in the Sydney suburb of Paddington. There’s no word yet on who’ll play, except that it’s a “superstar act.” Yes, I’m intrigued.

After all, in the past seven series we’ve seen international acts like the Foo Fighters, John Mayer, and Coldplay take the stage, as well as big name local talents like Delta Goodrem, Missy Higgins, and The John Butler Trio.

There’s also no word yet on when it’ll all start, so we’ll all have to keep an eye on the newly revamped Russian Standard Vodka Live at the Chapel website and Facebook page. Both sites are worth bookmarking if you want to win your way into the shows and suggest the artists you want to see.

Help Feed Homeless Dogs with Pedigree Adoption Drive

I wanted to take a short break from chatting about music to mention another topic that’s dear to my heart. You might have noticed the Pedigree Adoption Drive banner in my sidebar. I was always of the opinion that it’d be a great cause to support, but I was also acutely aware than my cat Gizmo would never tolerate us adding a pup to the mix. I also rent, so getting a dog approved would be a bit of a long shot.

But as the banner reminds us, even if we can’t adopt a dog we can help the brand make a difference. Clicking on the banner will take you through to the Pedigree Adoption Drive’s Facebook page. Show that you “like” it and Pedigree will donate a bowl of food to a homeless dog. It’s a really simple thing we can all do to help out dogs that need it. While you’re at the Facebook page you can also make a special Pedigree version of your profile pic to help spread the word. If you can resist those sad puppy eyes you’re a stronger person than me!

Make Kylies at Facebook

Kylie Minogue is entering the digital age in a big way. Last week I told you about her cool social network site, Kylie Konnect. Now she’s launched a brilliant new Facebook application that allows fans to create their own little Kylie characters.

Facebook users can browse more than forty Classic Kylies wearing some of the divas most iconic outfits, or create their own from scratch. I think my favourite is this cute little Intimate Kylie, but there’s also the”Can’t Get You Out of My Head” Kylie wearing that famous white pantsuit, and the “Spinning Around” Kylie complete with sexy gold hotpants.

Once you’ve created your mini-Kylie you can download it to your computer or send it to a friend. Check it out at http://apps.facebook.com/kylierobotics/home.
