Scott Spark gets to live out his superhero fantasies in the film clip for his new single, the title track from his debut album Fail Like You Mean It.
There’s a touch of the Rufus Wainwright and Ben Folds about this quirky track, which holds a deeper meaning than its jaunty pop flavour might suggest. This is the first song Scott wrote after the death of his father, a time when he was “was thinking lots about death and failure, what they mean and how we deal with them … More or less it’s about getting friendly with whatever terrifies you the most. That’s not something you can avoid forever. Either you find it, or it finds you. And when those worst-case scenarios become reality, you learn pretty swiftly who’s got your back”.
“Fail Like You Mean It” is great fun; I can’t wait to see what comes next from this Brisbane-based singer songwriter!
