Dan Webb Gives Away 12 New Songs in 2013

Christmas might be over, but Dan Webb doesn’t believe that’s any reason for the presents to stop. In 2013 he’s pledged that he’ll release a new song for free download every month. That’s 12 sparkly new songs to add to your music collection!

He’s set the bar very high with the first track “Departure,” a groovy number featuring Kylie Auldist of The Bamboos. If each song can live up to this one I’m going to be very impressed!

You can enjoy all the songs Dan is generously providing by logging on to his website this year.

Slow Chase Sizzles with “Algernon”

Slow Chase deliver a tune with enough swagger to impress The Stones with their new single “Algernon.” It’s a sexy, dirty rock number that raises my expectations for the band’s forthcoming EP Blind Spot. I love the way it channels 70s rock sounds with its sing-along hooks and bluesy groove.

If you love the song make sure you head to Slow Chase’s website for your free download.

12 June 2011 – The Evelyn Hotel, Fitzroy

Dash & Will Back with “Animal”

Dash & Will are back with a rip-snorting new single “Animal.” This track is the first cut from the Melbourne pop duo’s forthcoming sophomore album.

This is just the kind of tune that makes me want to hear more. My husband would describe it as “angry girl” music, which is a very good thing. It’s got delicious pop overtones which only slightly tempering the girls’ ballsy attitude.

There’s no release date for the album as yet, but this tune should help to satisfy your hunger until then. Right click on the link to download a copy of this gutsy new tune!

Free Montpelier Song Download

Brisbane four-piece Montpelier is giving us our first taste of their forthcoming EP by offering a free download of one song, “Last Boat.”

Click here to own the track, which features haunting vocals from Greg Chiapello and some incredible drum beats reminiscent of The Temper Trap. It’s no wonder Greg delivers such an amazing vocal performance, as he penned it about his difficult teenage years coming to terms with OCD.

“When I was in my late teens I got diagnosed with OCD. I had lived with it since I was quite young but never knew exactly what it was. Around the time of writing Last Boat I was really getting on top of the OCD and really learning how to manage and live with it,” he explained.

“This song for me does encapsulate the pretty extreme struggles experienced over those years, the isolation and helplessness an illness like that can make you feel, but it also reminds me of the wonderful liberation and strength I felt at the time knowing I could live with it, and knowing that it wasn’t going to be debilitating for the rest of my life.”

If you love the song make sure you look out for Montpelier’s EP next April. And make sure to check out its incredible animated video!

Free Ryan Meeking

We all love something for nothing, right? And that’s especially true when it’s good music!

Ryan Meeking’s delivering with a free download of his new song “This Time” for everyone who signs up to his mailing list. Now I suppose you could argue that if you’ve gone to the effort of joining his list, it’s the least he could do. But with Ryan promising to keep us updated with his tour schedule, new releases, and other goings on I think it’s a pretty good deal.

And besides, the tune is just the kind of organic acoustic goodness that we all need on a Saturday!

Brittle Give The Owls EP Away

Melbourne’s Brittle are generous sorts. They’re so keen for Australia to hear their brand of alternative rock, they’re giving their new EP The Owls away for free!

The five track release captures the band’s dynamic live sound, thanks in no small part to the skills of legendary producer Mark Opitz (The Angels, Cold Chisel, INXS).

“It was a massive learning curve for us as a band,” said Brittle lead vocalist Ben “Tokyo” Whiting. “That guy knows a lot and he taught us so much during our time working with him. Get Dave Anderson Tunes for Free

A few months ago I discovered Dave Anderson, a fantastic local singer-songwriter from Sydney. I was actually one of the first to review his debut album Wish It All Away. Since then he’s earned some big praise from the Australian media.

The Sydney Morning Herald gave it 4/5, commenting that “Some upbeat tunes cleverly cover up many of his personal frustrations while the quieter acoustic moments convey just the right amount of emotion without becoming maudlin.”

Dave also impressed The Sunday Telegraph who said Wish It All Away “would sit comfortably on the shelf next to your Pete Murray CDs.”

If you still haven’t heard Dave’s tunes, here’s your opportunity to check them out for nix. Just visit his website, sign up to the mailing list, and you’ll receive two free downloads. You’ll then get updated when Dave is playing near you, so you can see this talented independent artist for yourself! Sounds like a win-win to me!
