Heath Burdell Impresses With “I’ll Be Yours”

Eora/Sydney-based singer-songwriter Heath Burdell has really impressed me with his latest single “I’ll Be Yours.” Indie country label RTC Records, but I wouldn’t put Heath in the country box.

This track has got a lot more of a nostalgic rock feel than anything they’re playing on country radio. I love the rasp of Heath’s voice and the infectious melody that sticks in your head like glue. You’ll be humming this for the rest of the day, mark my words!

Heath Burdell Drops Awesome Rock Single, “No Promised Land”

Don’t you just love those songs that sound like classics from the first listen? Heath Burdell’s latest single “No Promised Land” is one of those special songs. It’s radio-friendly rock that simply makes you feel good.

Heath’s based in Eora/Sydney now, but grew up around the sugar cane fields of Northern Queensland. I can definitely hear a lot more of that influence in Heath’s music. Could he be Australia’s answer to John Mellencamp? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Heath Burdell Releases Impressive Solo Single, “Fight Of Your Life”

Heath Burdell has done the hard yards, picking up his first guitar at the age of 10 and gigging in North Queensland bars and clubs by the age of 15. With his band Merlin’s Traffic, Heath spent his late teens and early 20s supporting acts like Jimmy Barnes, Diesel, The Whitlams, Jebediah, and The Superjesus. Sensing he’d done all he could do in North Queensland, he relocated to Eora/Sydney to focus on making his music dreams a reality. If his latest single “Fight of Your Life” is any indication, the move was well worth it.

Heath wrote “Fight of Your Life” about staring down adversity and overcoming the challenges that lay ahead. I love its classic rock sound. The press release compares it to music from 1970s West Coast American acts, but the grit and underdog storytelling quality reminds me more of Bob Seger or John Mellencamp. Either way, it’s good stuff.
