Is Missy Lancaster the Next Taylor Swift?

I love T-Swift more than your average woman my age, but there’s a part of me that misses the wide-eyed guitar-playing, country-singing young thing that she used to be. Thankfully Australia has Missy Lancaster to fill the void.

Missy’s self-titled EP debuted at number nine on the ARIA country chart when it was released earlier this month. She also debuted at number three on the AIR albums chart. When only Courtney Barnett and Sia keep you from the top spots, you know you’re doing something right. Missy features the charming single “That’s What I’m Talking About.”

After completing a successful run of dates at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Missy will show the city slickers how it’s down at an instore tomorrow at St Mary’s Sound in St Mary’s. She’ll perform from 10:30 am before signing copies of her EP for fans.

Are you Ready for Record Store Day?

The bill for this Saturday’s annual Record Store Day is looking quite tasty indeed.

Cassie Davis will be singing and signing at Hurstville Westfield, the Rogue Traders will appear at the Virgin store on Melbourne’s Chapel Street, and Bluejuice will show up at Wills Music, Launceston.

Reality TV fans can meet Damien Leith at Kotara Westfield’s JB Hi-Fi, Hayley Warner at Westfield Mt Druitt, or Mark Vincent at JB Hi-Fi at Eastland.

A few Aussie music veterans will go it alone for the event. Get up close and personal with INXS’s Tim Farriss and Hoodoo Gurus’ Dave Faulkner at Mall Music at Warringah Mall.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Head to the Record Store Day website to see what’s happening near you on April 17.

Meet The Living End

I haven’t heard of a band doing an old fashioned instore in a while! Good on The Living End for hitting the shops and mingling with the fans!

Andy, Chris, and Scott will sign copies of their latest album White Noise at the Virgin Megastore in Sydney on Saturday from 1 pm.

Then they’ll be at JB Hi-Fi in Melbourne’s Bourke Street from 5:30 pm next Monday.

White Noise hits stores everywhere on Saturday July 19. The signings should generate a bit of publicity for the band’s September/October tour.
