A Baby Girl for Ben Lee

Congratulations to Ben Lee and Ione Skye! The couple are celebrating the birth of their daughter, Goldie Priya Lee. She was born on Thursday September 24 at the very civilised time of 8 am.

Ben said he is “over the moon” at the arrival of his baby girl. He’s already bringing her up right, with a steady diet of Curb Your Enthusiasm DVDs! It’s very important to educate the young! You can see a photo of the pair at Ben’s blog.

Goldie is the first child for Ben, who married Ione in a traditional Indian ceremony last December. She is also mum to an eight-year-old daughter, Kate, from her previous relationship with designer David Netto.

Ben Lee Gets Married … Twice!

Ben Lee has been married twice in two weeks! The Aussie singer-songwriter wed actress Ione Skye in a traditional Indian ceremony on December 29, but as this wasn’t legally recognised in Los Angeles they married again at City Hall.

“You go through a huge experience on an emotional and spiritual level, then you have to go and do the paperwork,” Ben told The Sunday Telegraph.

Around 50 of the couple’s closest family and friends attended the nupitals in Malaikodi, near Chennai on the Bay of Bengal. They included Ione’s brother Donovan Leitch, Missy Higgins, Nash and Joel Edgerton, and Jessica Chapnik. The ceremony was presided over by Ben’s spiritual guru, Sakthi Narayani Amma.

A reception was held at a nearby guesthouse, with Ben’s friend The Kahn Brothers acting as the house band. The newlyweds then took their party to a nearby orphanage, where they proceeded to perform for the children. It sounds like a big day!

Ben might be forced to postpone a honeymoon as he’s due back in Australia next month to promote his new album The Rebirth of Venus.

Ben Lee and Ione Skye Engaged

Aussie cutie pie Ben Lee has announced he’ll wed his Hollywood actress girlfriend Ione Skye.

In typical Ben style, he announced the happy news on his blog.

“It’s very exciting … and I am psyched about making this commitment with such a wonderful partner,” he said.

Ben proposed after receiving the blessing of his spiritual guide Sakthi Narayani Amma in India.

“Amma said: ‘Marriage will be good for Ben. In the past, Ben has wavered on his path as he didn’t have support. Ione understands his job and profession and can support him. She is spiritually connected to the Divine. There should not be any problem with Ben and Ione. Every marriage has adjustments. You cannot plan for everything in life. But it can be smooth. Ben can ask Ione. Amma will bless everything.'” Ben recounted.

“So that is why I got home last night, proposed, got the all important answer from my love, and am lying here in bed in LA, jetlagged, sick with flu, but thrilled beyond belief. Life is full of surprises and the unexpected. But sometimes you get what you need AND what you want”

I’m not sure what it is about the entertainment industry these days, but it seems like everyone is either getting married or getting pregnant! All this lovely news sure makes a nice change!
