Get Set for Island Vibe

All the gloomy weather we’re seeing in the Eastern states makes a trip to Stradbroke Island for the annual Island Vibe Festival this October even more enticing. Of course this year’s lineup is stellar, with Brit Finlay Quaye performing alongside our own King Tide, Black Jesus Experience, Toothfaeries, Bullhorn, and PAUA. Note that this is only the first announcement too, so things are going to get even bigger.

Island Vibe is now in its ninth year and it shows no signs of slowing down. As well as the incredible reggae and roots acts, crowds will be treated to circus performances, cabaret, art displays and workshops, and plenty of fun activities for the kids. To coincide with this year’s theme of ocean conservation there’ll also be a new eco tent.

Island Vibe hits Minjerribah, Stradbroke Island from October 31 to November 2. Tickets are on sale now from Rudekat Records.

Island Vibe Heading Back to Stradbroke Island for 8th Year

Island Vibe is coming back to Stradbroke Island for more reggae, dub, soul music, and good times from October 25 to 27.

Rather than serving up the same old line-up, the Island Vibe crew has looked further afield to bring out many international artists who’ve never graced our shoes. They include New York’s dancehall phenomenon Electric Punanny, British reggae queen MC Soom T, New Zealand’s Dub Terminator, Jamaican soul diva Silva MC, and Chile’s own Jah Red Lion.

Promoters haven’t forgotten about our homegrown talent though. Kingfisha, Dubmarine, Bobby Alu, Darky Roots, and Die Rude are just some of the local acts who’ll grace the Island Vibe stage.

Talk about a great excuse for an island holiday. Tickets are on sale now through the Island Vibe website.

The Wailers Headline Island Vibe

Island Vibe is heading back to Stradbroke Island this October for its seventh big year.

The 2012 line-up includes some stellar international reggae, soul, and dub acts including The Original Wailers, fellow countryman Prince Alla, Canada’s JPod, and Gaudi from Italy. Aussie performers including Kooii, The Upsteppers, and Chant Down Sound also have a place on the bill. And there’s more to come, with a second artist announcement planned just before the festival.

I think it all sounds like the perfect opportunity for a beach holiday, don’t you? Tickets are now on sale through the Island Vibe website.

MC Chali 2na Back for Island Vibe Festival

The Island Vibe Festival is heading back to Stradbroke Island this October long weekend for another big year.

After he wowed crowds in 2009 former Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli star MC Chali 2na has been announced as this year’s headliner. He’ll join first class local talents Blue King Brown, Dubmarine, Bobby Alu, Opiuo, Grace Barbe from the Seychelles, and heaps more.

Island Vibe is a music festival with a difference thanks to its magnificent beachside location and focus on culture and the environment. Check it out from October 28 to 30. Fans can enjoy discounted early bird tickets through the Rudekat Records website now.

North Stradbroke Island Hosts Island Vibe Reggae and Roots Festival

If you’re looking for great music and a laidback atmosphere you’ll find it at Island Vibe, the leading reggae, roots, and cultural festival in the South Pacific. The event will take over North Stradbroke Island from October 29 to 31.

2009 was the event’s biggest year, but 2010 is promising to top it with new additions Kiwi hip hop master King Kapisis, festival favourite Mista Savona, Coloured Stone’s Bunna Lawrie, and our own Mr Percival joining already confirmed starters Ladi 6, Groundation, Paula Fuga, and Rhythm Collision Sound and plenty of other top musicians, cabaret artists, and burlesque performances.

There’s still plenty of accommodation available, but I wouldn’t wait too long before sorting it out. Camping spots are available at Amity Point and Dunwich, although Amity is filling up quickly. Regular bus services will take you from either site to the festival. Call Redlands City Council on 1300 551 253 to reserve your campsite, or if you want something a bit more luxurious check out the holiday homes, apartments, and other accommodation options on the Island Vibe website.
