Kate Vigo Offers Album Tease with New Single

Kate Vigo’s current suitor should be under no illusion with the release of her new “Not the One.” The track pulls no punches; this man might be a good distraction for now, but he’s not the one!

“Not the One” comes from Kate’s forthcoming album Blue to Gold, a disc which promises to fuse the organic roots of music with the synthetic sounds Kate loves so much. She says she’s been enjoying having fun and writing the kind of songs that “people can dance around in their bedroom to,” although she adds that the album also has a much darker side.

If “Not the One’s” any indication, Blue to Gold will be an album to listen out for in 2013.

Emmy Bryce and Kate Vigo Announce Double-Header Shows

Melbourne singer-songwriters Emmy Bryce and Kate Vigo are joining forces for one monster tour next month.

The girls met late last year and instantly bonded over their shared passion for making music. Kate loved “the brightness and optimism” of Emmy’s sound, while Emmy was drawn to Kate’s hard work ethic. After spending some time together, announcing a co-headlining tour seemed like a no-brainer.

And so these indie popsters will play capital cities and regional centres next month on their The Hunter and Gatherer tour. It’s intended to be a real interactive event, with the girls employing social media throughout the run of dates to engage with their fans. Emmy will be promoting her debut EP Seven Days, which hits stores today, while Kate will give music lovers a sneak peek at her forthcoming debut album Blue to Gold.

A Friday Pick Me Up from Kate Vigo

It’s been one hell of a week for me. While earlier I was looking for music that soothes, as I sat alone in my empty house this afternoon, with my husband en route to America, I was after a pick-me-up. I found it in “Wanna Run” a deliciously playful slice of indie pop from Melbourne’s Kate Vigo.

There’s a lovely retro Cure-esque quality to this tune that had me dancing around my lounge room in my PJs. Hey, I’m here with only the cat watching, so why not? While the good vibes of this tune hit the spot, it’s the lyrical depth behind the melody that makes things really interesting. This song speaks of the struggle of finding your own path in life so eloquently. I’m impressed.

“Wanna Run” is the second single from Kate Vigo’s forthcoming album Blue to Gold, which hits stores in March. That’s an awfully long time to wait, but her hometown fans can get an early fix with her “Wanna Run” launch show. Kate will play The Toff in Town on October 6.
