King Ibis Start “Cooling Embers” Single Tour Tonight

Boorloo/Perth-based indie-pop/rock act King Ibis have got my toes tapping with their latest single “Cooling Embers.” This song is just so effortlessly cool, with killer vocals from Nadene Burchell.

She says “‘Cooling Embers’ is about feeling disillusioned with pursuing a career as an artist and the moments of uncertainty. It also is about the drive to continue finding the things that make me feel inspired and connected to the people I get the opportunity to share the experience with.”

King Ibis have been doing big things in their home city, including opening for Coldplay late last year. Now music lovers on the other side of the country get the chance to see what they’re all about with their first East Coast tour kicking off tonight. That’s right Meeanjin/Brisbane, cancel all your plans because you won’t want to miss them!

King Ibis Drop “Watch My Mind Bend” Ahead of Coldplay Support

Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rock act King Ibis are poised for the big time after winning Coldplay’s recent competition for a local support act. These guys have been playing local pubs and clubs supporting local legends like Spacey Jane, Jebediah, and Dulcie, but those stages are much smaller than the one at Optus Stadium that awaits them. Listening to their new single “Watch My Mind Bend” though, I know they’ve got the goods. Controversial opinion, but I like them a lot better than Coldplay!

“‘Watch My Mind Bend’ is about trying to quit a bad habit,” the band explained. “In this case, the habit is a friends-with-benefits situation that you know will end in tears, but the allure of that physical connection is still too powerful to resist.”

Along with that Coldplay support, King Ibis are supporting Green Pools and playing slots at the Balmy Nights Festival later this month. Catch them anywhere you can:

11 November 2023 – The Bird, Boorloo/Perth (supporting Green Pools)
19 November 2023 – Optus Stadium, Boorloo/Perth (supporting Coldplay)
24 November 2023 – Balmy Nights Festival @ Youth and Arts Space Hopetoun, Boorloo/Perth
25 November 2023 – Balmy Nights Festival @ Cannery Arts Centre, Kepa Kurl/Esperance

King Ibis Playing WA Shows to Support “Patience” Single

Boorloo/Perth indie-pop band King Ibis are about to treat music lovers in their home state to a string of shows supporting the release of their latest single “Patience.” This track is the perfect slow-burner, a song that gently sneaks up on you until it’s right under your skin.

“‘Patience’ takes you through the confusion, frustration and rage of finding out a rumour had been circulated about you by someone you believed to be a friend. A plea to understand and be understood, the beginning attempts to open dialogue with the betrayer,” the band explains. “In a final roar of all-consuming anger, any patience that remained has been spent and the song draws to a moody, sultry close.”

King Ibis are proving to be one of WA’s top live acts after sharing stages with talents like Spacey Jane, Jebediah, Dulcie, Sly Withers, and heaps more. Catch them at the following shows:

22 September 2023 – The Bird, Boorloo/Perth
23 September 2023 – Settlers Tavern, Wooditchup/Margaret River
24 September 2023 – Bungalow Neighbourhood, Wooditchup/Margaret River
25 November 2023 – Balmy Nights @ Cannery Arts Centre, Kepa Kurl/Esperance
