Kita Alexander and LAUREL Join Forces for “All Night”

Our own Kita Alexander has teamed up with UK pop starlet LAUREL for “All Night,” a feelgood track that’s bound to put a smile on your face. If there was ever a perfect pop song, this might be it.

“I honestly feel so privileged that LAUREL wanted to come into the studio with me on one of her only days off during her Aussie tour,” Kita enthused. “We’ve always been fans of each other’s music, so to meet for the first time while writing together was really cute. This song is about having that one friend who is always there for you and can pull you out of dark places. We really play on this sentiment as we alternate line for line in the chorus. On the first listen back we realised our voices actually have a really similar tone, but if you focus you can definitely differentiate us as we tag team the lyrics.”

“I have been a huge fan of Kita for a long time so it is such a dream to collaborate,” LAUREL added. “This track is so summery and playful, it’s actually my first duet. The chorus gives me a real Spice Girls vibe as we’re singing about leaning on our friends. It came about really naturally when I popped into one of Kita’s sessions, in the middle of my Australian tour. We only had four hours but the song kind of fell out of us really quickly! They’re always the best ones.”

“All Night” comes from Kita’s debut album Young in Love, which will hit the streaming services on March 22. To celebrate its release, Kita will hit the road with Jem Cassar-Daley and San Joseph. Kita Alexander Drops Pop Bop, “Queen”

Kita Alexander is embracing her inner pop diva with her fun new single “Queen.” This is the girl power anthem you need heading into your weekend! It’s a bit of a sonic left turn from Kita, but I think it suits her!

“’Queen’ was born out of a need to write an upbeat dance song. My dilemma with that was that I don’t think I can dance. I’m self-conscious about the length of my limbs and find it very hard to loosen up on the dance floor or in front of anyone for a matter of fact,” she admitted. “During the four months during Covid that my husband was away for the Olympics, I found myself alone in the kitchen more often than not. I discovered that I actually love to dance and really go for it when no one’s watching me. Even if one of my kids sneak out of bed and tries to watch me I get more conscious of the way my body is moving. I find this incredibly ironic because I perform for a living. This song is all about feeling like a superstar when you’re all alone.”

To celebrate the release of “Queen,” Kita will head out on her very first headlining tour next month. Expect to hear all your favourites from her three EPs and perhaps some more new songs from her forthcoming debut album. Meeanjin/Brisbane has already sold out and other dates won’t be too far behind, so make sure you grab these tickets while you can!

19 May 2023 – Mary’s Underground, Eora/Sydney
20 May 2023 – Northcote Social Club, Naarm/Melbourne

Kita Alexander Brings the Sunshine With “Ocean Blue”

Kita Alexander’s shimmery new pop single “Ocean Blue” brings the good vibes we all need in the middle of a working week. Take a moment away from your desk to dance along to this one. I swear you’ll feel better!

“This is probably the cheeky, playful side of me that people haven’t seen,” Kita admitted. “It’s just another example of what I can do and how different songs and sounds fit into my world.”

More new music from Kita isn’t too far away. Her new EP is scheduled for release later this year.

Kita Alexander Releases Fun Single, “I Miss You, I’m Sorry”

Kita Alexander shows she’s not afraid of apologizing with her poppy new single “I Miss You, I’m Sorry.” Her latest track is a more upbeat affair than the music she typically releases, but I think this sound is just what we need to combat the current climate of bad vibes. It also comes from an honest place, just like her trademark ballads did.

“The song is very truthful, and almost word-for-word, to be honest,” she admitted. “I really looked at myself. ‘I Miss You, I’m Sorry’ is a reflection of turning inwards rather than pointing the finger at someone else. Because I’ve realised you can’t control anyone or anything. You can only control your reactions and your emotions.

“Writing this was a real experience for me,” she added. “It was an easy song to write because it came from experience. But it was hard to look in the mirror and realise you messed up. I don’t know if everyone has that epiphany, but on this occasion, I saw my mistakes and flaws.”

Crank this one and let it chase away those Monday blues!

Kita Alexander Releases Beautiful Video for “Hotel”

Kita Alexander has just dropped the video for “Hotel,” the title track of her sophomore EP released earlier this year.

It’s a beautiful clip with dreamy footage shot on location in Byron Bay the perfect foil for Kita’s laidback synth-pop smash. It also captures the emotional connection of two sisters, fittingly considering “Hotel” is a song dedicated to Kita’s late sister Natassja Claire.

“There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted a sister love-story line to play out in my video for Hotel. I took this idea to one of my best friends who is also an amazing creative director. She knew exactly how to visually explore the relationship I had with my sister, perfectly. These movies I have in my mind of my sister and I together were never filmed in real life, so to be able to re-create the memories and be able to live them whenever I watch the video, is really special to me. Thank you to everyone who supported the process,” she said. “And thank you to my sister for living life to its fullest and always having fun no matter where or when, appropriate or inappropriate.”

It’s really the perfect marriage of song and videos. Amazing work from Kita.
