Madonna Sticky and Sweet Tour Not Heading to Australia

It seems there’s no truth to the rumors that Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour will visit Australia later this year.

Undercover says Madonna’s record label has denied the stories and the promoter who was negotiating with Madonna before the dollar crashed says the talks are off the table. The dates published in newspapers last week don’t check out with venue bookings either.

Sorry Madonna fans but it all makes sense. When the tour was originally planned we were getting 95c to the US dollar. These days it’s sitting at around 65c. For shows so spectacular, the cost after the conversion would be phenomenal.

It looks like Madonna fans would be better off saving for an overseas trip if they want to catch the show, because I can’t see it finding its way here.

Madonna Plans Australian Tour

It looks like Madonna might bring her Sticky and Sweet Tour to Australia after all, and it could be sooner than you think.

Speaking on Sunrise this morning, Molly Meldrum confirmed that two promoters are currently fighting over the tour as we speak.

But it’s just a formality. Now that Mads doesn’t have that whiny Brit of a husband begging her to stay at home, she’s keen to get out and see the world! In fact, we could see her on our shores as early as January!

It’s unknown at this stage whether Madonna will bring the entire stage and dramatic production elements out here, but if she does expect to pay for it with some hefty ticket prices. Although with the value of the Aussie dollar down to around 60c, these seats are never going to go cheap!

Considering that Madonna hasn’t toured here since she brought her Girlie Show Down Under in 1993, I know plenty of punters will pay whatever the Queen of Pop is asking!

Sam Sparro Sledges Madonna

We’ve barely heard a whisper about Aussie ex-pat Sam Sparro. But the British-based singer has already become so big for his boots that he’s taking potshots at Madonna!

Apparently Sam was a little miffed his single “Black & Gold” was beaten to the number one spot on the British charts by “4 Minutes.”

He gave the Queen of Pop a royal sledging in a chat with Attitude magazine.

“You’re not young and sexy any more,” he ranted, adding that Madonna “thoughtful and mature for a while and now she’s chucked it away in a desperate attempt at being hot again. It’s a bit vile.”

But he didn’t stop there, adding “I definitely think she’s had some work done – like a recent facelift.”

Ouch! Talk about a case of sour grapes! If Sam ever hopes to make an impression on the charts, he might need to learn to pull his head in. No one likes a sore loser!

Will Madonna Tour Oz, or Won’t She?

The original Queen of Pop Madonna has teased that she may visit Australia to promote her latest album, Hard Candy.

“How bad do you want me there?” she asked The Sunday Telegraph’s Jonathon Moran.

“There’s a chance. It’s been a while. It’s the least I can do.”

It certainly has been a while. Mads last visited Australia in 1993 for her Girlie Show. She also confessed she has a soft spot for Aussies.

“I’m very fond of some Australians. Australians are usually quite funny people.”

Promoter Michael Chugg is confident he can lure the pop diva Down Under.

“It is being talked about … and there is a promoter trying to put it together,” he said.

Whether she tours or not, Hard Candy’s release on April 26 should be music to the ears of Madonna’s loyal Aussie fans.
