MAXO Releases New Pop-Rock Smash, “Light It Up”

Canberra singer-songwriter MAXO should get your heart soaring with his new single “Light It Up.” It’s a uplifting song which MAXO says it “about leaving the 9-5 jobs, chasing my dreams, and bringing everyone along for the ride. To break their shackles. To chase their dreams. To feel ALIVE!”

I’ve written about MAXO a few times and I think he’s going from strength to strength. With one accomplished pop-rock song after the next, I can’t wait to hear his next release.

MAXO Spreads Good Vibes With “Never Ever”

Canberra singer-songwriter MAXO had me at the banjo. This much-maligned instrument is actually one of my favourites, and it brings MAXO’s new single “Never Ever” a little closer to that folk-rock sound perfected by artists like Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers.

The track is a sweet ditty about meeting someone and falling so hard that you’re willing to sacrifice it all. Awww. Couldn’t we all do with that kind of blind optimism on a Monday morning?

MAXO Does Pop-Rock Right With “Without You”

Love songs are a dime a dozen. In an oversaturated market, it’s easy to let them wash over you, then just wait for the next one. But Canberra’s MAXO has released a love song that deserves a little more time and attention, his brand new song “Without You.”

MAXO isn’t reinventing the wheel here. The song’s exploration of the craziness of love and the empty feelings that come when the object of your affection isn’t there doesn’t really cover any new ground. But MAXO’s emotional vocals give it that little extra something. It’s also super catchy, the kind of thing I can imagine commercial radio stations adding to their playlists if they were willing to take a chance on an up-and-comer.

Hopefully we hear more from this local talent soon!
