Miami Horror Release Single from Album Number 2

Miami Horror look set to prove that they’re no one-trick ponies with the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album All Possible Futures. They’ve just released the lead single “Love Like Mine” and it’s a wonderful feel-good slice on 80s-inspired electronica.

The album is the first the band recorded since relocating to Los Angeles, and if the single’s any indication it was the right musical move.

“We wanted to move to LA for inspiration and influence more than anything,” explained Miami Horror’s producer Ben Plant. “It helped us to experiment and find our own sound. If you look at a lot of the alternative electronica and dance music coming out of LA it definitely has a feel – we love the weirdness and sunshine. It has been a strong influence on many of our favourite records from the 60s-80s and we wanted to allow it to influence this record.”

All Possible Futures will be released on April 24 on CD and limited-edition vinyl, but you can get in early and pre-order it here.

Miami Horror Do “Sometimes” in San Fran

Miami Horror have been performing some killer shows in the United States, and this video is the proof! It shows the electro dance darlings wowing the crowd at San Francisco’s DNA Lounge with “Sometimes.”

That early support will no doubt serve Miami Horror well when they relocate to the sunny shores of Los Angeles later this year. We’ll get a chance to say goodbye on the band’s Summersun tour, which kicks off in Ballarat next Wednesday. Tickets are still available, but I’d get in quick if you want to be there!

Miami Horror Play Oz Before US Move

Australia’s losing another talented band to the bright lights of Hollywood. Electro kings Miami Horror will play a final string of local dates before relocating to Los Angeles.

Miami Horror are certainly a band on the up. They recently wowed crowds at South by Southwest, sold out shows in LA and Mexico, and even scored a number one in Denmark.

You can say goodbye to the local lads at the following shows. Tickets go on sale this Monday.

Bacardi Express @ Newcastle Panthers, 27 March 2010

Long time readers of my blog would have some idea of the music I embrace and the concerts I tend to frequent. None of these readers would expect to find me at a Bacardi Express show, yet when a couple of complimentary passes were thrown my way I figured “Why not broaden my horizons?”

I felt like a bit of a fish out of water as I queued with all the young things at Newcastle Panthers. I haven’t been into a nightclub for more than a decade, and I didn’t quite know what to expect. I certainly didn’t expect to have such a good time.

After DJ Sampology warmed up the crowds, the Cassette Kids took to the stage. After interviewing them earlier in the month I developed a soft spot for these talented young Aussies, and they didn’t let me down. Lead singer Katrina is such a compelling performer; I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She thanked the growing crowd for arriving early, and they responded to the big hits “Spin” and “Nothing on TV.” They might have been the first act on the bill, but for me they were the best.

I was also impressed with Miami Horror, although I admit I couldn’t place them until they performed “Sometimes.” I hadn’t heard any of their other material before, but their retro pop influences made the tunes feel familiar nonetheless. As a child of the 80s, I really enjoyed their synth driven sound and happily danced along with the growing throng.
