All too often when tracks are laid down in the studio, they lose a little of their potency. However there’s no evidence of that in “My Call,” the bluesy new single from Josh Rawiri. This is one of those songs that’s so compelling in its rawness. I can really hear the angst of living with a long-distance relationship and the jealousy and temptation that can breed in Josh’s soulful vocals.
“I wrote this song driving late at night, after many weeks on the road away from family,” he explained. “No mobile phone, my only point of contact the odd phone booth – so much relies on trust when you live two separate lives, it’s easy to let our vulnerable imaginations run wild.”
If you live in Milton, make sure you check out Josh’s show at the Commercial Hotel tonight. Hopefully it won’t be too long before he brings his live show to the rest of Australia.
