Congratulations to Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Rogue Traders drummer Cameron McGlinchey, who became first time parents yesterday. The engaged couple is celebrating the birth of their daughter Harper Rain Sinclair McGlinchey.

The little one was born at a private Melbourne hospital and tipped the scales at 3.22 kg.

“Natalie Bassingthwaighte is a mum,” her manager Mark Byrne confirmed last night. “Mum and daughter are both perfect.”

I’m not normally one to get clucky about such things, but I can’t wait to see whether the pair have passed on those musical genes!

Natalie Bassingthwaighte Ready to Conquer the World

After achieving massive musical success at home, Natalie Bassingthwaighte is looking to spread her wings.

“I’m not sure whether I’m going to go to America or Europe or the UK,” she told The Sunday Telegraph on the set of her third solo video clip, 1000 Stars.

“I’m not sure which path I’m going to take yet.  I definitely feel like something is about to happen, something big,” said the pop dynamo, who is hoping to replicate her local success abroad.

Regardless of what the future holds, Nat says she’ll definitely step away from the Aussie spotlight for a while.

“I think I am definitely going to leave the country for a while, because, I don’t know, I am sick of seeing my face everywhere, let alone you guys.”

Between her music, her budding acting career, and hosting duties for So You Think you Can Dance, she’s definitely one busy lady. This weekend Nat kicked off her national tour supporting the number one selling album 1000 Stars. Then in May her first feature film, Prey, hits theatres.  Forget about conquering the international markets – I think she just deserves a holiday!

Jessica Mauboy Burns Up the Charts

Jessica Mauboy’s second solo single “Burn” has proven its slow burn appeal, landing at the top spot on the ARIA singles charts this week. With the single debuting eight weeks ago, I’ll bet Jess wondered if she’d ever score that number one!

It’s been a much more meteoric rise for Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who’s rocketed into ninth position with “Someday Soon.” What an awesome effort for its first week in the charts!

AC/DC continue their dominance, outperforming all other Aussie albums with the five-times platinum Black Ice. It’s sitting at number four after thirteen weeks in the charts.

The massive Aussie soundtrack from the even bigger series Packed to the Rafters sits at number eight. Featuring acts like Ben Lee, Josh Pyke, and Gabriella Cilmi it’s little wonder people are buying this one in droves. It sounds like ideal Australia Day barbie music to me!

David Campbell rounds out the top 10 with one of my favourite albums at the moment, Good Lovin’. This is the sixties soul cover album’s highest chart position to date!

Natalie Bassingthwaighte’s "1000 Stars" Shine Brightly

After two hit singles, I’m hanging out to hear the rest of Natalie Bassingthwaighte’s debut solo album 1000 Stars. The good news is that I don’t have to wait too much longer, with the album scheduled to hit stores next month.

“Alive” and “Someday Soon” have given us just a taste of the new CD, which promises to be a diverse disc.

“Sometimes I want to rock out, sometimes I want to be acoustic and emotive and sometimes I want to be as camp as I can be. This album is as eclectic as I am,” Nat explained.

Natalie worked alongside some of the world’s best songwriters, including Paul Barry (Cher, Tina Turner), Steve Anderson (Kylie Minogue), Jimmy Harry (Pink, Britney Spears) to create her solo release.

“This is the first time I’ve been able to fully express myself creatively. I’ve had so many amazing experiences in my career. I’ve been punky with the Rogue Traders and more sophisticated as a TV host and I’ve played characters on stage and TV and had so many costumes and outfits. This album allowed me to strip back all that and just be the real me. It is the sum of all those things in my life so far “said Nat.

She embraces her passion for musical theatre with “Catch Me If You Can,” camps and vamps it up with “Supersensual,” and speaks from the heart with “In His Eyes,” a song she wrote for her grandmother.

“My grandad passed away and ever since then my Nan doesn’t know how to exist without him,” Natalie admitted.

It sounds like 1000 Stars will take us on one hell of a journey when it’s released on February 21.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte’s "Someday Soon" Music Video Revealed

Here’s your first look at the new film clip from Natalie Bassingthwaighte! Nat cowrote her new single “Someday Soon” with Alex Smith and Paul Barry, the man behind Cher’s dancefloor smash “Believe.” Can this song be just as big? We’ll have to see when the song hits stores on January 10! That’s one month before Natalie’s solo album 1000 Stars is on shelves.

Keep your eye out in the music video for Natalie’s nephew, Logan Sheldrick. The nine-year-old plays a child actor in the clip. It must be pretty cool to have an aunty like Natalie Bassingthwaighte!

Nat Bass Opens Up About Rogue Traders Split

It’s been a month now since Natalie Bassingthwaighte split from mega dance outfit the Rogue Traders. We’ve heard from lovable Rogue James Ash, the fans, in fact everyone but the girl herself. Until now.

Nat spoke to The Sunday Telegraph today from London to set the record straight.

Firstly, her relationship with Rogue Traders drummer Cameron McGlinchey didn’t go sour. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth!

“Cam and I are so together. I love him to pieces. I’m missing him, so he’s coming here and I can’t wait,” she gushed.

She says the decision to leave the band was a difficult one, but necessary. James wanted to continue his career, and Nat decided it wasn’t fair for him to sit around waiting for her to come back to the fold while she pursued her solo one.

“It’s always hard when people make up their own stories and don’t know the truth. I guess you could make the decision to go out there and say: ‘No, no, no’ and do 20 million interviews and tell everyone what the real story is.”

Instead of doing that, Nat got away from it all. It sounds like a much nicer option!

“I actually went on holidays with my best friend to Paris and Spain and all around the globe, chilling out. I had the best time. I just needed to relax and be somewhere people didn’t know who I am.”

But Nat Bass fans don’t have too long to wait before she returns to the spotlight. Her first solo single is out in October, the same month she’ll host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Add to that her hosting duties for the next series of So You Think You Can Dance in 2009, and Nat’s going to be one busy bee!
