Nat Bass Headlines SYNTHONY Shows Around the Country

When you think of seeing a symphony, you probably imagine a night at the Opera House watching people dressed up to the nines playing classical music, right? But SYNTHONY has changed the game, marrying symphonic sounds with some of the hottest dance music around. Add a host of fantastic performers, and you’ve got the recipe for a fabulous night out.

Now in its third incarnation, SYNTHONY will hit some of the best music venues in the capital cities from February next year. These shows will feature Nat Bassingthwaite, Thandi Phoenix, Ilan Kidron from The Potbelleez, Greg Gould, and of course those incredible symphonies taking on music from acts like Disclosure, Eric Prydz, Flume, Daft Punk, and Calvin Harris. Oh, and did I mention the epic light show? It’s like the best dance party you’ll ever attend.

“This show is SYNTHONY all grown up, like a coming of age!” enthused conductor Sarah-Grace Williams, who has been with SYNTHONY since the start. “SYNTHONY no.1 is a bit of a nostalgic trip down memory lane, celebrating 30 years of global dance anthems, SYNTHONY no.2 is a little edgier, we still have a show packed with classics but introduce some more new music as well, and SYNTHONY no.3 takes that one step further – the best of EVERYTHING! I am so incredibly excited to be unleashing Synthony no.3 onto Australian audiences, they are going to love this show! For those who have already seen SYNTHONY 1 and 2, you ain’t seen nothing yet! And for those who have never seen a show – now is the time!”

So what are you waiting for? Tickets are available right now for all these SYTHONY No. 3 shows:

Natalie Bassingthwaighte Splits from Rogue Traders

Natalie Bassingthwaighte has left her Rogue Traders bandmates to pursue her solo career.

Nat originally planned to take time off to record a solo release, but the band have decided to make the split a permanent one.

“As I’m sure every single one of you already knows, this tour was always expected to be our last tour for some time, as we knew Nat was going to work on solo and other commitments, which could take some years to complete,” James Ash said on the band’s online forum.

“Because of this, sadly, after a great deal of consideration we’ve come to the conclusion that as Nat’s career choices are taking her in new and exciting directions, she won’t be able to be a part of the Rogue Traders.

“Nat and I both want you to know that we part company as best friends, with a deep love and respect for each other and what we have achieved over the last three and a half years.”

It’s amazing to think she’s only been with the band since 2004. Natalie’s distinctive vocals gave the band top ten hits including “Voodoo Child,” “Way To Go,” “Watching You,” “Don’t You Wanna Feel” and “I Never Liked You.” Her presence in the band will be sorely missed.

Nat Bass Releases Self Help Book

Natalie Bassingthwaighte has already inspired girls all over Australia with her career as frontwoman of the Rogue Traders, numerous acting roles, and a hosting gig on So You Think You Can Dance. Now she’s hoping to encourage even more to achieve their full potential with the release of her first book, Sistahood: A Journal of Self Discovery.

Nat has worked with her sister Nicky Moore for several years on the project. They wanted to create more positive role models for girls than clotheshorse party girls like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

The book encourages girls to recognise their strengths and weaknesses, identify what inspires them, and achieve their dreams with chapters like “Celebrate Difference,” “Jumping Life’s Hurdles,” and “Believe in Yourself.”

This could be just the start of the Sistahood story. Nat is hoping to launch a clothing line and magazine inspired by the self help book.

“We feel it’s just a really great message,” Nat told The Sunday Telegraph. “I can see clothing, stationery, everything – and creative things for girls as well, maybe more books; things that have a positive message or that are made in a way that we are helping the underprivileged.”

She may be gorgeous and talented, but even Nat admits her self-esteem has taken a battering in the past.

“I am pretty comfortable with who I am but I do get insecure and if I read something bad about myself it does affect you,” she said. “I actually had to go to this book when I felt down.”

Sistahood: A Journal of Self Discovery will be launched on Wednesday. Nat will also appear at ABC shops around Sydney next week to sign copies of the book. Check her site for all the times and dates. Sales from the book help the SISTER2sister charity, which supports disadvantaged young girls.

It seems younger and younger girls are battling low self-esteem, so it’s awesome to see one of our coolest Aussie chicks doing something about it!

Natalie Bassingthwaighte Enjoys On-Screen Lesbian Romp

Former Neighbours star and Rogue Traders frontwoman Natalie Bassingthwaighte has returned to her acting roots with a role that’s sure to please her legions of male fans. Nat plays a doctor with lesbian tendencies in a new indie horror film, Prey.

However, word is that a particularly pervy scene, where she showers while her female costar watches, may end up on the cutting room floor.

“I hope not!” she told The Herald Sun at the Neighbours relaunch party.

I’m sure most men around the world are crossing their fingers right along with her.

Still on the subject of Australia’s favourite soap: Australian Idol heartthrob, Dean Geyer, is moving to Ramsey Street. Dean will play an aspiring musician, a role that sounds very similar to Delta Goodrem’s Nina Tucker. Dean can only hope the role does as much for his singing career as it did for hers!

Whether it sends the South African stunner to the top of the charts remains to be seen. However, as Neighbours is definitely lacking male eye candy these days, Dean’s inclusion should be a ratings winner.
