Noiseworks Show They’re More Than a Nostalgia Band With “Heart & Soul”

In case you missed it, Noiseworks have just dropped a new single, “Heart & Soul.” And it’s pretty fantastic.

Of course, it’s easy to miss a release like this. Commercial radio has a tendency to flog the back catalogue of classic bands without making space for their new material. And you know the alternative stations won’t play it! However, this track is so good that it should be on your radar. It’s also a taste of what’s to come. “Heart & Soul” is the first single lifted from Noiseworks’ first studio album in 30 years. Yes, they’ve still got it. Listen out for that album in October.

“Coming back after 30 years with new music and seeing the level of excitement that we have had from our Noiseworks fans has been a really powerful experience for us,” Jon Stevens said. “’Heart & Soul’ shows where we are now while also giving a nod to the sounds that make us Noiseworks. ”

No doubt Noiseworks will treat fans to a classic hits set as part of the upcoming One Electric Day tour. I just hope there’s space for “Heart & Soul”, because it’s every bit as good as the smash singles that came before. Tickets are extremely limited, so if you want to see Noiseworks and the other fine acts, including Suzi Quatro and The Angels, you’ll have to be quick!

Jon Stevens Celebrates Noiseworks & INXS With Massive Aussie Tour

I intended to write about this tour yesterday, but instead I found myself going down the Jon Stevens rabbit hole on Spotify, feeling nostalgic about the hits and discovering great recordings I hadn’t heard. Has anyone else listened to his version of “A Change is Gonna Come” or him jamming with Diesel on “Dock of the Bay”? Sublime. Travelling down that rabbit hole brings home just how good Jon’s upcoming tour will be though. Dubbed the Noiseworks and INXS Collection national tour, the set will be all about the hits.

The tour’s inspiration came from the rapturous reception he received as part of the Red Hot Summer Tour, where he played a similar set.

“You’ve got 10,000 people just going bananas when you are playing those songs,” he says. “It makes you realise you have to keep playing them. People want to hear Noiseworks and INXS,” he confirmed. “My job is to make sure everyone has the maximum best time possible.”

Barnesy, Noiseworks, and Thirsty Merc Play Red Hot Summer

The annual Red Hot Summer tour will wind its way through regional Australia in January, and it’s shaping up to be a cracker.

Jimmy Barnes will headline the event with special guests Noiseworks, and Thirsty Merc. The McClymonts will also join the shows in Morwell and Mannum. I don’t blame them for not playing all the dates; can you imagine coping with all that testosterone from the blokey bands?

Acts of this calibre rarely get together on one bill, let alone in regional areas. If you’re in the vicinity you don’t want to miss these shows.

Celebrate Aussie Rock in WA

Some of Australia’s hardest rockers will hit Perth later this month for the Aussie Rock Celebration Concert.

Line-ups don’t come much better than this, with Rose Tattoo, The Screaming Jets, Noiseworks, and The Party Boys heading up the bill. But that’s not all, with former AC/DC members Dave and Marck Evans, Kevin Borich, Buzz Bidstrup (The Angels), Paul Christie (Mondo Rock), and Dave Tice (Buffalo) all slated to appear.

And it’s only fitting on such an occasion that a statue honoring the late AC/DC frontman Bon Scott will also be unveiled on the day.

The Aussie Rock Celebration Concert will hit Claremont Showgrounds on February 24. Tickets are available from Moshtix. Adult tickets are $77 while under 18s can go for the bargain price of just $25.
