Aussie Artists Play Clipsal 500

The Clipsal 500 isn’t just about the cars. It’s also a great opportunity to indulge in some home-grown music. The line-up for this year’s Jim Beam TrackSounds On-Circuit Concert has just been announced, and it’s one of the best yet.

The March 20 show will include The Presets, Pete Murray, Faker, Operator Please, and local five-piece Delamare.

“Delamare is a great group and given that the Clipsal 500 Adelaide is not only South Australia’s largest annual sporting event, but also one of our biggest music festivals, it’s great to present emerging local talent to such a large audience,” said Jason Allen, Clipsal 500 Adelaide’s chief executive.

Tickets for the massive show are currently available through Ticketek.

Silverchair, Spoon, and More Join BDO Bill

Next year’s Big Day Out lineup was already bursting at the seams, but with the most recent announcement, it’s bigger than ever.

Silverchair had a massive year in 2007, taking home five ARIAs and receiving worldwide acclaim for their fifth album Young Modern. They’re set to start 2008 with a bang appearing at Big Day Out gigs around Australia and New Zealand.

They’ll join other local sensations including Augie March, Regurgitator, Josh Pyke, Gyroscope, and Operator Please.

There’s also more international acts, with American rockers Spoon, DJ Carl Cox, Brit darling Kate Nash, and electronic outfit Unkle joining the bill.

They’ll play alongside Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, Hilltop Hoods, Billy Bragg, and more at these massive events.

The Gold Coast, Sydney, and Melbourne shows have already sold out, and with these recent additions the Adelaide, Auckland, and Perth shows won’t be too far behind.

Operator Please Plans Global Assault

The Brits are going wild for Brisbane’s bubble gum punksters, Operator Please.

The Aussie quintet has just been added to the lineup for next month’s Reading and Leeds festivals. Their hyperactive single “Just a Song About Ping Pong” has also been added to London’s BBC Radio 1 and XFM playlists.

But these Aussie teens are no overnight success story. They’ve been perfecting their bluegrass-tinged punk since they won their school’s battle of the bands comp in 2005.

Perez Hilton also named Operator Please his “favourite new band.” With the backing of this influential tabloid blogger, world domination may be just around the corner.
