Pigeon’s Settle In Ready to Drop

Local electronic wunderkinds Pigeon will release their sophomore EP Settle In tomorrow. The second album from this acclaimed Brisbane band features the singles “Curtain Call” and “Two Moon Love,” which have been both been well received by local radio, fans, and the blogosphere.

The songs give us a taste of the unique electronic cocktail we can expect to sample on the short player. It’s a little European, with nods to Sebastien Tellier and Royskopp, but it’s got that distinctly Australian twist fans love. It’s also completely self-produced, mixed, mastered, and recorded too, so it definitely deserves to be celebrated! You can give them a pat on the back when Pigeon tours the EP around the major capitals next month.

Pigeon Cover Daft Punk

Local electronic band Pigeon have celebrated the recent release of Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories with a video capturing a medley of the French act’s biggest hits. In just nine minutes Pigeon takes us on a trip down memory lane with some of dance music’s most enduring classics. Clever stuff!

Pigeon Release Top Track “Encounters”

Brisbane band Pigeon are back with another killer single, “Encounters”. They’ve brought back the sax that I loved in “All That Bad”, and a chorus you’ll find yourself singing along to by the time the video’s done. It’s not quite mellow enough to be chill-out music, but unless your head is really pounding you’ll find this is a perfect Sunday soundtrack.

Pigeon Share Fortunes

With their debut EP Fortunes proudly sitting on music store shelves, Pigeon are gearing up for a launch tour.

The EP’s just days old, but it should do well if the success of the latest single “All That Bad” is any indication. Triple J has embraced the track, sending it to number two on debut on their Unearthed charts and ensuring the song gets a film clip thanks to NIDA. With a killer sax line, what’s not to love?

Pigeon have barely been off the road this year, but they’re determined that fatigue won’t set in. They’ll play the following shows next month to celebrate Fortune’s release.

22 November 2012 – Port Macquarie Hotel, Port Macquarie
23 November 2012 – Brighton Up Bar, Sydney
