Jacob Butler Hits Europe

Jacob Butler is taking advantage of the buzz he’s building abroad with a month long European promotional tour.

During his time in Europe, Jacob will play acoustic showcases in Germany, Sweden, and Poland. These appearances include an album release event at the Australian Embassy in Stockholm and a show in the Swedish capital’s Aussie Boomerang Bar on October 24. Jacob’s album Reason will hit Swedish record stores on November 15.

Jacob has also just signed a licensing deal with Richard Branson’s V2 label, which will see his debut album Reason released in Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg early next year.

Katherine Jenkins Can’t Get Enough of Australia

It seems Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins just can’t stay away from Oz. She’ll touch down in August for a quick promotional tour ahead of some theatre dates this October.

Katherine will be in the country to promote her album Believe, which went straight to number one on the Aussie classical charts on its release late last year.

Katherine will play intimate theatre shows around the country this October, with our own operatic superstar Mark Vincent acting as support. Tickets are on sale now for the following dates.

Police Cancel Justin Bieber’s Aussie Concert

Justin Bieber Arrives In Sydney

Police have put a stop to Justin Bieber’s only public Australian appearance this morning following fears for the safety of his female fans.

Justin’s concert at the Overseas Passenger Terminal was scrapped in favour of a more controlled show at Sunrise Headquarters. His set was also downsized from three songs to one. Thousands had travelled from around Australia to attend the gig, and plenty camped out overnight in anticipation.

Undeterred, much of the throng moved from Circular Quay to Martin Place in attempts to catch a glimpse of the singer. The sound of their squeals was present throughout the Sunrise broadcast, even when there was nothing Bieber-related going on! I have much sympathy for the poor police officers in charge of controlling the crowd!

Honestly, I haven’t seen scenes like this since Hanson’s heyday. I can’t say that I see Justin Bieber’s appeal, but clearly the kid’s got something!

Craig David Plans Promo Trip, But Does Anyone Really Care?

Craig David’s new single “One More Lie (Standing in the Shadows)” has barely made a ripple on its release. But the British soulster is hoping to change all that when he touches down in Australia for a promotional tour next month.

Craig David - Album Launch Party

Craig will arrive on May 17 and stay for six days to promote the hell out of his forthcoming album Signed, Sealed, Delivered. The album, his first on the Universal label, is a collection of soul hits from the Motown era.

Australia hasn’t really seemed to care much about Craig David since the early noughties, but we all know soul covers albums sell like hot cakes these days. It worked for Human Nature and Guy Sebastian, but can Craig David get us excited by these classics? Something tells me this release won’t have the same impact our local artists did, but the promo tour should see it sell a few more units.

Ke$ha Announces Free Sydney Show for Australian Promo Tour

Australia seems to be Ke$ha crazy at the moment. Music fans took her debut single “Tik Tok” to the top of the singles chart, and her new single “Blah Blah Blah” is comfortably sitting in the top 10.

Ke$sha wants to thank her local fans with a free live performance during her upcoming promo tour. If you love Ke$ha, make sure you get down to Moore Park’s Entertainment Quarter on March 23. Ke$ha will take to the stage to perform the big singles and other tracks from her debut album Animal.

She’ll be joined on the day by a very special support act, who is yet to be announced. Are you as curious as I am? You’ll need to be there when the show kicks off at 6:30 pm to see who’ll make a surprise appearance!

Simple Plan to Visit Oz

The lads from Simple Plan are hot stuff right now. Their single “When I’m Gone” is all over radio, and their new self-titled album hits stores today. The Canadian pop-punksters will head to Australia for a promo tour next month to celebrate its release.

Simple Plan have got one of those instantly recognisable sounds, but apparently we can expect something different this time around.

“I think we all felt we needed to do something that would be a little more daring and stretch the envelope of who we are,” explained frontman Pierre Bouvier. “We were just trying to make a record that will leave a little more of a mark.”

Drummer Chuck Comeau adds that “there was sort of a realization we needed to shake things up and really take chances and just go for it. To do something that was still us but would challenge ourselves”.

Simple Plan will be in Australia for just five days (March 10-14), but Warner Music promises there will be opportunities for fans to catch up with the band. If you love Simple Plan, I suggest checking the Warner Music website regularly to see when you can see, hear, and watch the guys in Oz.

James Blunt Plans Aussie Stay

He’s got the number one album in the country at the moment, and James Blunt is heading to Australia to say thank you!

His second album, All The Lost Souls, wasted no time making an impression with a number one debut this week.

James Blunt will be in Australia to promote his new record (not that he needs to!) from October 13 to 19.

“I am so excited to be returning to Australia,” he said in a recent press release. “I have a lot of friends over there and this will be my chance to thank everyone for their phenomenal support.”

Most of James’ time will be taken up with media obligations, but he will perform for his Sydney fans on October 18. If you want to be there make sure you listen to Nova radio for your chance to win the tickets!
