Pyramid Rocks Phillip Island

Phillip Island’s got more than fairy penguins to offer New Year’s revellers. The Victorian township will again play host to the Pyramid Rock Festival from December 29 to January 1.

Organisers have assembled a great line-up for Pyramid’s ninth year, shaped largely through the suggestions of Pyramid fans. Aussies dominate the bill, including 360, Karnivool, Children Collide, Dead Letter Circus, Illy, Stonefield, and Xavier Rudd.

For the third year, prices have stayed steady too. How many other New Year’s parties can boast that? Two and three-day passes will go on sale from the Pyramid Rock Festival website from Tuesday September 4.

Owl Eyes Does Summer Festivals, Shout Out Louds Support

Our very own Owl Eyes will be rubbing shoulders with some major international talent over the coming months.

She’ll support Swedish indie rockers Shout Out Louds at the East Brunswick Club, before gracing the stage at the Hot BBQ Festival in Portsea. Hot BBQ Festival might not grab the headlines of the Big Day Outs of this world, but with Mos Def, Hoodoo Gurus, and Boy and Bear all on the bill it should be every bit as hot as its name promises.

If you’re heading to Pyramid Rock, don’t miss Owl Eyes joining Illy for their new single “It Can Wait.” Her cameo appearance is bound to be one of the talking points of this year’s festival.

If you love Owl Eyes, and her new EP Faces, these are the places you can see her over the silly season!

3 January 2011 – East Brunswick Club (supporting shout Out Louds)

Arrested Development and N*E*R*D Headline Pyramid Rock

If you’re looking for something to fill the void left by Homebake, consider a trip to Phillip Island for this year’s Pyramid Rock Festival. It might not be entirely home grown, but this year’s festival is shaping up to be something pretty special with an eclectic line-up of international and local acts.

Overseas talent N*E*R*D, Arrested Development and Chromeo will join big name Aussies including The Temper Trap, supergroup The Basement Birds, reformed rockers Tumbleweed, Xavier Rudd, Gyroscope, and heaps more.

Pyramid Rock will take over Phillip Island from Wednesday December 29 to January 1. I can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year, can you? Let’s just hope the rain stays away!

To that end, if you were one of the folks let down by last year’s event you’ll be interested to note that organisers are looking to make amends. If you were caught in that mother of all electrical storms, you’ll receive discounted entry and priority tickets to this year’s show. Head to the Pyramid Rock website for more details.

Tickets for Pyramid Rock go on sale from the official website on September 14.
