SarahJ Releases “Safe” Single That’s Anything But

Following in the footsteps of strong female-fronted pop-punk acts like Paramore and Tonight Alive comes Sarahj, an exciting five-piece from Melbourne. “Safe” is the band’s heavy-hitting new single and our first taste of their EP Reaper.

“Safe” is only the band’s second single, but they’ve been honing their craft in pubs around Melbourne for the last year and a half. That experience shows in this confident track, which explores the security that comes from a good relationship.

“The songs on our EP are very personal, but every song our listeners will be able to relate to,” explained the band’s frontwoman. “We like to talk about the ups and downs of love and heartbreak. Discussing mental illness is really important to us as well.”

Reaper drops on September 19. Hopefully the band will announce some dates to support its release so we can catch their much-lauded live show.

Sia Shines With Kanye West Collaboration “Reaper”

I’m not sure Sia is capable of writing a bad song. The ones she records herself are always a cut above in my opinion. Why would you want to pass your best material on to someone else? While everything she does is gold, I’ve got a special place in my heart for her latest single “Reaper.”

Sia cowrote and produced the track with Kanye West, yet it feels more personal than so many collabs. What a quality track.

Given I’m sharing the single with you, it’s probably a good time to remind you Sia is touring the country later this year. This is a big deal, as Sia hasn’t toured Australia for six years. Since then she’s become an international megastar, scoring Grammy Award nominations and working with the likes of Adele, David Guetta, and Kendrick Lamar. She was Spotify’s most streamed female Aussie artist last year and “Cheap Thrills” was the most streamed song by a female artist in the streaming site’s history.

At the height of her popularity and with stellar support acts Charlie XCX, MØ and Amy Shark locked in, these shows will sell out. Catch Sia at Melbourne’s AAMI Park on November 30 or Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on December 2. She then heads across the ditch to play Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland on December 5.
