Aston Does Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” Like You’ve Never Heard it Before

Sydney classical outfit Aston have been adding a touch of class to The Matty Johns Show each week. If you haven’t caught their reinterpretations of modern pop and rock songs, check out this reimagining of Rihanna’s “Rude Boy.” I’m not a fan of the original, or of classical music generally, yet I love this. If you do too, make sure you visit Aston’s YouTube page, where you can see more clips and vote for the song you want them to take on next!

Chris Brown and Rihanna’s Massive Oz Tour

Chris Brown and Rihanna are teaming up for one of the hottest tours this year. The R’n’B power couple will visit Australia in November.

Expect plenty of top 40 hits when this pair hit entertainment centres and arenas around the country.

General ticket sales start on Monday 15 September, but if you want to get a jump on the competition I recommend signing up to the Ticketek mailing list before next Friday.

See Rihanna and Chris Brown at the following venues.

31 October 2008 – Entertainment Centre, Brisbane
3 November 2008 – Entertainment Centre, Adelaide
4 November 2008 – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
8 November 2008 – Acer Arena, Sydney
11 November 2008 – Burswood Dome, Perth

No CDs, But Rihanna’s Still Tops

Rihanna has made history this week, becoming the first act to top the Aussie charts on digital sales alone.

Her new song “Don’t Stop the Music” was not available as a physical disc, yet still managed to bump Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love” from the top spot.

Apparently record companies will release “Don’t Stop the Music” as a CD this week, but it doesn’t look like they really need to.

So is this further evidence that CDs are all but dead? As a proud CD buyer, I really hope not!

This is what else is happening on this week’s ARIA charts.
