Christian Adjeisa Releases Fantastic New Single, “RUNNING”

Eora/Sydney-based R&B-pop act Christian Adjeisa has just released a brand new earworm, “RUNNING.” This song is such a bop. While it’ll get you up and dancing, its lyrics also pack a powerful emotional punch.

“‘RUNNING’ is my journey of grappling with heartbreak and search for truth, trying to outrun the haunting memories and painful truths of a failed relationship,” Christian said.

I also love the film clip, directed by Frederick McHenry, which sees Christian working up a sweat in the outback of New South Wales alongside Indigenous locals in Ngemba Country/Brewarrina. The rugged setting is a powerful representation of the emotional barrenness and isolation felt after a break-up. It’s all great stuff which makes me pretty excited to hear more.

Flynn Gurry Releases Impactful Single, “Running”

With his debut EP Weather & Dogs? dropping in just a couple of days, I thought it was about time I introduced you to Flynn Gurry’s latest single “Running.” A powerful exploration of mental health, this track really showcases Flynn’s talents as a songwriter.

“The songwriting process for ‘Running’ was a really pivotal moment for me, I was actually gaining an understanding and seeing the way that I was dealing with the poor mental health I was experiencing at the time,” Flynn admitted. “My way of coping was to just ignore and run from it by isolating myself and refusing the help that was being laid out in front of me. Being aware of the dark content in this song, I really wanted to ensure that the production on the track wasn’t necessarily overcompensatingly ‘happy’, but it wasn’t just all doom and gloom – I feel Jan [Skubiszewski, producer] and I found a great balance.”

Weather & Dogs? drops this Friday, September 23. I’ve already taken a listen and I know you’re going to love it. Flynn will support Goanna at their show at the Lighthouse Theatre in his hometown of Peek Wurrong/Warrnambool on October 27.

Bel Woods Releases Stellar Debut Single, “Running”

Sydney indie-pop act Bel Woods has burst onto the local scene with her first single “Running.” It might be her debut, but there’s a confidence in the track that reminds me of classic female-fronted acts like The Pretenders and The Motels.

It’s so interesting to hear how the song evolved too. It started life as a samba ballad, but over the years it’s morphed into the high energy indie-pop track we hear today. It might have been a couple of years in the making, but the song’s narrative about two people drawn to one another against their better judgement is timeless.

“Running” is a really strong start from Bel Woods and hopefully a great sign of things to come for this talented Sydneysider.

Ryan Downey Drops New Single Ahead Of Album Release and Tour

Just a week out from the release of his debut album Running, Ryan Downey has dropped another stellar single. “1+1” is a dreamy ballad featuring guest vocals from Zoe Randall.

Zoe’s voice is lovely, but I think Ryan is the real star here. He reminds me a little of Chris Isaak, which his rich, resonant voice, but I find his music much more compelling and captivating than the American crooner’s.

I also love the clip, which again sees Ryan collaborating with filmmaker Alex Badham. It has such a simple premise, but like the song itself it draws you in and hits you right in the heart.

Ryan is set for a busy couple of months with shows supporting Sarah Blasko and his own headlining dates for the album. See him at the following venues.

Stop What You’re Doing and Listen to Ryan Downey’s “Running”

Melbourne crooner Ryan Downey has given me chills with his new single “Running.” THe track comes from Ryan’s debut album, out April 13.

It’s a beautiful slow burner, stripped back and delicate yet so powerful. Listen to those lyrics, if you’re not too mesmerised by Ryan’s beautiful baritone. It’s somewhere between Chris Isaak and Leonard Cohen, with a classic quality that’s sure to send many hearts racing.

Sydney gets a chance to get up close and personal with Ryan when he plays Golden Age Cinema this Thursday, March 8. Get your tickets at the door.

Fieu Releases “Running”

Some days you just feel taking off, leaving behind all of the responsibility and baggage and bullshit and starting over. Queensland pop act Fieu taps into that desire in her brilliant new single “Running.”

It’s a bolder and more commercial sound than we’ve seen from Fieu at the past, which could be the influence of her collaborator Joel Quartermain of Eskimo Joe shining through. Either way, I like it. If you do too, make sure you catch Fieu at one of the remaining shows of her east coast tour.

18 November 2015 – The Pier, Port Macquarie
19 & 20 November 2015 – Australian Music Week, Sydney
22 November 2015 – Element Bar, Coffs Harbour
