Tia Tamora Releases New Pandemic Single, “Sick”

Tia Tamora is celebrating her 21st birthday today with the release of her sophomore single “Sick”. This killer cut will be right up your alley if you love your music dark and brooding. I love its cinematic feel. If Quentin Tarantino made a James Bond movie, you could expect to hear “Sick” on the soundtrack.

“I wrote ‘Sick’ during a period of isolation. I was completely consumed by thoughts of a guy I was seeing and I ran with the idea of that love sick infatuation you get when you’re first getting to know someone and the hurt obsession that follows after they break your lil heart. Naturally, I took it to the extremes,” Tia said.

While Tia wrote the song about her own experience, “Sick” also speaks to the isolation so many of us felt and are still feeling during the pandemic. Whether you’re still traumatised by the lockdowns or you’re being cautious while the rest of the world rushes headlong into the new normal, I’m sure this song’s themes of being locked up, physically in your own home or mentally in your own thoughts, will resonate.

Tia Tamora will release her debut EP later this year. If “Sick” and her previous single “Picnic” are any indications, it’ll be one to listen out for.

Hands Like Houses Release New Single Ahead of National Tour

Canberra’s own Hands Like Houses are reminding us just why they’re one of Australia’s best rock acts with the release of their latest single, “Sick.” It’s an epic track, lifted from their fourth album -Anon, which gives the finger to people who try to take advantage of us.

“I think everyone knows the feeling of being taken advantage of – especially when you put yourself out for someone to have them want more,” acknowledged the band’s frontman, Trenton Smith. “Sometimes you can walk away, and other times you just have to take it in your stride because you’re focused on something bigger. Entitlement is bullshit but that’s when you have to remember, with a wry grin, that other people don’t control you.”

The video, shot in the Californian desert, is every bit as compelling as the song it accompanies.

Hands Like Houses’ upcoming tour is their biggest headlining run to date, and you can bet they’ll rise to the occasion. It all kicks off in their home town this Friday.
