Sophian Get the Party Started With “Dance With Me”

Friday might be still too far away, but I think it’s always a good time for dancing. If you agree, you’ll want to take some time to cut loose listening to Sophian’s new track “Dance With Me.” This is an irresistible cut from a band that’s quickly establishing themselves as one of Boorloo/Perth’s hottest up-and-coming acts.

“When I started to write this song, I had just come out of deep conversations with two people I really love, about their feelings of their own self-worth and how they were struggling to see that,” explained frontman Sophian Manik of the song’s inspiration. “I wanted them to know how amazing and special they are and how they just needed a little push to know this.”

Sophian have some big things in the pipeline, with some choice local supports, slots at Nannup Music Festival and Booty Block Party, their first East Coast tour, and a big single launch party all happening over the next few weeks. Get out and support them anywhere you can.

Sophian Celebrates the Now With “Beautiful Day”

Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rock act Sophian have impressed me again with their uplifting new single “Beautiful Day.” Coming hot on the heels of other stellar 2023 releases “Moments” and “Georgia,” these guys are having such a great year.

“My wife and I were having a conversation one day around feeling the pressures of society to have life all figured out by a certain age. I saw what it meant it to her and I just wanted to let her know that it’s okay to not have it all figured out yet, life is still beautiful and its okay for us to just enjoy that moment. This song is about feeling free and enjoying life around you for just the way it is,” recalled the band’s frontman Sophian Manik.

Sophian will launch “Beautiful Day” for hometown fans at The Indian Ocean Hotel on October 20. After they sold out hometown shows at Old Habits Bar and The Bird earlier this year, I suggest getting tickets now to avoid missing out!

Sophian Bringing Back Summer With “Moments”

Winter’s chill has well and truly set in, but “Moments,” the latest track from Boorloo/Perth indie-rock act Sophian is bringing the sunshine. It’s such a cool summery track, with a great guitar groove and celebratory lyrics. And it’s always the right time of year for that.

“Those dreamy and lush guitar tones make you feel like you are just enjoying a day down at the beach or driving down the coastline. A song that makes you feel at peace and lets you just enjoy the moment,” the band confirmed. “Sometimes all you want to do is slow down and just enjoy the moment you are in. The way we live life today sometimes makes it hard. We’ve been programmed to move so fast, and it’s created this feeling of having to constantly keep moving. It can get tiring. You can be your own worst enemy sometimes. ‘Moments’ focuses on those feelings and is a song about learning to enjoy the moment no matter how hard it can be sometimes.”

After supporting acts like COTERIE, Bootleg Rascal, and DICE, Sophian are stepping into the spotlight with a string of headlining dates. Catch them when you can!

5 August 2023 – Old Habits Neighbourhood Bar, Boorloo/Perth
1 September 2023 – The River, Noongar/Margaret River
2 September 2023 – Froth Craft Brewery, Noongar/Bunbury

Sophian Releases Fire New Single, “Georgia”

Blending a little reggae with indie rock sounds, Boorloo-Perth act Sophian has won me over with their latest single “Georgia.” I’ll be surprised if you don’t find yourself grooving along to this one. If you’re into acts like Ocean Alley and Coterie, you’re going to be all about this.

“We are going behind a very beachy vibe. We want to inspire and spread happiness with this song,” said the band’s frontman and namesake, Sophian Manik. “The song itself is about a sailor falling in love with a mermaid but finding it difficult to maintain the relationship given their differences. It’s also a metaphor for what relationships in real life sometimes can be like. Things can be tough, but you can always work on turning them into something positive. We love the ocean and the beach. So, it was only natural for us to explore a song which would incorporate the ocean and also campfire vibes of bringing people together.”

Sophian are launching the single at The Bird in Boorloo/Perth on May 5. Their last single launch sold out, so you might want to pounce on some tickets pronto.
