Sophisticated Dingo Announce Aussie Tour For “I Don’t Mind” Single

One of the hardest working bands in the country, Sophisticated Dingo, are hitting the road again. The band will tour the country to celebrate the recent release of their latest single “I Don’t Mind.” We’re used to these guys going full throttle, but this beautiful track shows the duo’s softer side.

Vocalist and guitarist Lewis Matte says “I Don’t Mind” is “a reminder not to take any moment for granted. No one knows how long they have left. Nothing is perfect. Embrace imperfection. Embrace growth through learning from the outcomes of your actions. Be malleable, open to compromise and to building dreams together with the ones you love. Let them inspire you. Speak simply. Embrace what you have. Don’t overcomplicate it. Enjoy the ride.”

Sophisticated Dingo Release Rocking New Single, “Been Thinking”

Sophisticated Dingo have just dropped their latest single “Been Thinking” and its another banger. Crank it up, because this one sounds best loud.

“It is commonplace to fake a smile in disguise of the stress and anguish you are feeling,” explained vocalist and guitarist Lewis Matte of the song’s inspiration. “This decoy might avoid detection momentarily, but is weakly maintained at best. Even the smallest of inconveniences can trigger all of your screws to come loose. Despite best intentions, your true colours shine bright, and for the better. The real you is out in the open. You can connect with the chaos of the real world rather than hide away in your fantasy of control and calm.”

Sophisticated Dingo are embracing the spooky season with a set at Creepshow 2023 at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse in Jellurga/Burleigh on October 28.

Stormy-Lou Exorcise Their Demons With “Nothing To Me”

Kaurna Land/Adelaide four-piece Stormy-Lou are bringing a little angst to your day with their new single “Nothing To Me”. It sounds like a classic alternative rock track, but tap into those lyrics and you’ll hear the optimism coming through. It might be a breakup song, but it reminds us that an ending is so often a new beginning.

“Nothing To Me is our way of saying “f*** you, we’re better now,” the band explained. “All four of us have experienced awful relationships in some shape or form and so this was a really collaborative song for us to express the post-breakup feels. We’re all super confident, bubbly people and that has come from beating hardships and kicking out bad ties in life.”

After wowing hometown crowds with a recent headlining show at the Crown and Anchor, Stormy-Lou will return to the venue to support Sophisticated Dingo on December 1.

Sophisticated Dingo Start Your Week Right With “The Job I Took”

If you’re finding it a little hard to get moving this Monday morning, Sophisticated Dingo’s new high-energy rock single “The Job I Took” is just what you need. The track sees the duo encouraging listeners to focus on what’s important and follow their passions.

“We wanted to celebrate choosing simplicity in a life that is inexplicably confusing… When pouring yourself into something, you might come to realise that you’re no longer doing it out of passion, but instead for the greater good,” explained vocalist Lewis Matte. “It can make sense to follow a path of idealisation when forging ahead however this path may well fall apart as one discovers what is most important. Don’t chase ideals, focus on what is real and present.”

Sophisticated Dingo Releases Anthem for the Working Week, “Day in the Life”

Getting over the hurdle of Hump Day is hard, but Sophisticated Dingo are here to wake you up with their latest single “Day in the Life.” These guys have always been bold, but their latest track is a real shock to the system. It’s surf-punk turned up to 11 with relatable lyrics about surviving the daily grind.

“I was not enjoying my job, and with time this fed into my wider life that I found myself not enjoying as a whole,” explained frontman Lewis Matte of the song’s inspiration. “At first, I didn’t accept that work was causing me grief, and I’d block out the idea that I was unhappy at all. After a lot of self-reflection and some time in therapy, I came to realise that my job was making me unhappy and this was affecting my overall enjoyment of life. Making the choice to start looking for a new job, and then eventually landing a new role was a really empowering moment.”

“If I could go back and give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be to take the time to think about what you want to do, research how to get the opportunity to do it, and try it out before committing your life to it. This is more important than doing what anyone else thinks you ‘should’ do.”

Despite the threat of COVID still looming large, Sophisticated Dingo have been kicking goals in 2021, playing six sold-out shows in their hometown of Melbourne. The rest of East Coast will get to see why they’re so beloved when they go on the road in a couple of months’ time. Catch them at the following shows:

Sophisticated Dingo Gives You “Head Talk”

A band with a name as fantastic as Sophisticated Dingo was always going to get me on side. Happily the Melbourne duo has backed up the moniker with a totally catchy new single “Head Talk.”

It’s got a great spontaneous energy about it that really cuts through. I love the big chunky guitars and heavy drums on this one. The gang-vocals of the choruses were actually recorded in the kitchen and living room of their producer’s house to give the track a more DIY sound.

It sounds fun, but all that raucous enthusiasm is wrapped around some fairly heavy lyrics about feelings of isolation.

“Even stupid little things like drunken fights over the phone can take a toll on your psyche if you don’t have clarity and closure in situations,” explained Sophisticated Dingo’s frontman Lewis “Lew” Matte. “It’s important to clear the air wherever possible and to understand the situation so you don’t falsely interpret things, for your own wellbeing.”

Mark your calendars Melbourne, because Sophisticated Dingo will launch “Head Talk” at The Tote Hotel (Upstairs) on September 1.
