The Beards Celebrate 10th Anniversary with Album & Tour

When The Beards formed back in 2005, they intended to play just one show. But now a decade on, the Adelaide quartet has released four albums, earned two ARIA nominations, played sold out shows in Australia, Europe, and North America, and spearheaded a beard revolution. They’re celebrating the milestone with the release of a special anniversary double album and an anniversary tour.

“When we started out, we didn’t anticipate just how much global demand there would be for songs about beards,” mused frontman Johann Beardraven. “It’s been really amazing to discover that so many other people around the world share our unwavering enthusiasm when it comes to beards.”

The ten-year retrospective album, which will be released soon, is a best of compilation including rarities packaged with a live album recorded at The Metro in Sydney earlier this year.

The Ten Long Years, One Long Beard tour will visit the following Aussie cities this October. Tickets are on sale now from The Beards’ website.

The Beards Tour First World Nations

After winning Australia over with their love of facial hair, The Beards are taking on the world.

The hirsute ones are currently spending time in North America, warming up for a return to home soil for a handful of holiday festivals. Then it’s back on a plane to dazzle European audiences before they arrive home triumphant for the world tour finale. It’s an ambitious schedule, but one that’s been carefully thought out by the band who decided to concentrate on the world’s most developed nations.

“People living in developed countries are more susceptible to shaving.” explained the band’s frontman, Johann Beardraven. “They are a high risk group, so it’s important for our message to reach them before it’s too late.”

The Beards Tour Before World’s End

I don’t mean to bring you down, but if you believe the Mayans the Incas, the Egyptians, or Nostradamus, we don’t have a lot of time left. It’s all wrapping up in 2012. One theory you might not have heard is that held by The Beards, that on December 21 the world will end for the beardless!

If indeed their prophecies do hold true, The Beards have nothing to worry about. But the hairy rockers want to send any clean shaven fans out with a bang on The 2012 End of the World (for beardless people) tour. Say that three times fast!

The tour is their most extensive to date, which is only fitting as The Beards want to convince as many music lovers as possible to put their razors down. It’s for their own good after all!

The Beards Still Celebrating Facial Hair

Quirky Adelaide band The Beards are launching their third album, Having a Beard is the New Not Having a Beard, with one of their most extensive Aussie tours to date.

As they sit poised ready to release that disc it’s a good time to reflect on just how far they’ve come. The beard-loving band, who came together as a joke, expected to play just one show before going their separate ways. They certainly didn’t expect enough beard-related material to sustain them for three albums.

The years have marched on, and they’ve built up lusher arrangements and experimented with some musical styles along the way, but The Beards’ central message remains the same.

“It will be our third concept album about the same concept – the only concept of any importance to any of us – beards!” explained frontman Johann Beardraven.

Having a Beard is the New Not Having a Beard hits stores on March 9, the same day as the big tour starts. It’s time to quit shaving now in preparation!
