The Griswolds Release Live Digital Boat Cruise EP

Last November, The Griswolds took a boat cruise around Sydney Harbour with some lucky fans and some of their best music industry pals including Pepa Knight of Jinja Safari, Jake Stone of Bluejuice, Nick McKenzie of Deep Sea Arcade, and Castlecomer. If you couldn’t be there, good news. The band’s released an EP, The Good Ship, capturing all of the craziness and killer tunes.

Listening to these live songs is the perfect primer for The Griswolds upcoming North American tour supporting Walk the Moon. If you’re Stateside, make sure you don’t miss these Aussie juggernauts when they visit a town near you.

See Ya 2014!

So here it is, my last post for 2014. Time for me to grab a glass of champers and get the party started away from my computer. But I felt it was fitting to leave you with a little something. So in case you missed it when it was on Triple J recently, here is the final Like a Version for the year, Bluejuice and a host of special guests (including Ngaiire, Elana Stone, the guys from The Griswolds, and Andy Bull) covering “End of the Road.” It’s amazing. Farewell 2014 and bring on 2015!

The Griswolds Release Fun Second Single, “If You Wanna Stay”

The Griswolds have released “If You Wanna Stay,” the feel good second cut from their debut album, Be Impressive. Impressive it is too, with playful synthy hooks that take me right back to the pop heyday of the ‘80s. God it’s fun.

The Sydney band has been conquering America of late, but they’ll be back in January to support British indie gods The Kooks. Following that they’re returning to the US for a mammoth 40-date tour supporting Walk the Moon, so if you don’t see them in the New Year there’s no telling when you’ll get another chance.

The Griswolds Provide Your Saturday Soundtrack

I’m not sure whether it’s the unseasonally sunny weather outside, or The Griswolds’ new single “Beware the Dog,” but I’m feeling pretty good as I type this. The track is the ideal Saturday soundtrack, an upbeat slice of indie pop perfection.

It sounds so cheerful, but the song’s actually about the way the band members lost a good friend to heavy drug use. Make sure you listen to the lyrics to really appreciate the delicate balance of light and shade here.

“Beware the Dog” is our first taste of The Griswolds’ debut album Be Impressive, which gets a global release on August 22.

Chance Waters Teams Up with The Griswolds for “Bonnie”

Chance Waters proves he’s not going to be pigeonholed with the release of his brand new single “Bonnie.”

“Bonnie” sees him collaborating with Sydney indie-pop act The Griswolds, and their influence is evident. The song’s still got a hip hop core, but it’s something complete new from this MC.

This is our first taste of Chance Waters’ third album. There’s not a lot of details about this release yet, but if this song’s any indication it’s sure to surprise!
